Insurance and OEM Lip Kit?
Well I finally collected a full lip kit set and just received the spoiler over the weekend. I should have them painted and installed before the end of the month.
My question is...once installed, if I were to get into an accident or something (God forbid). Since my car didn't come with the kit originally...would the insurance company replace the lip kit and spoiler if they were damaged? If not is there a way to get them to cover that as well?
Thanks!

I know that my insurance company doesn't cover aftermarket installs but every company is different. I'd ask them as they can give you a better answer than anyone here.
Which body kit did you purchase? I can't find OEM anywhere.

Here is his email: LDworshak@vtaig.com
He gave me this link:
http://www.oemacuraparts.com/partloc...?siteid=214055
and then enter the part codes:
08F01-S0K-220AG SPLR, FR. LIST 399.00 SALE 299.25
08F03-S0K-220A SPLR, RR. LIST 450.00 SALE 337.50
08F04-S0K-220A SPLR, SIDES LIST 320.00 SALE 240.00
You better hurry though so that you can choose your color. IMO this is a much better deal as you don't have to repaint anything. I got a quote from a paint shop and if I were to paint a used kit, it would cost $830.
Btw, the dealer splitted the shipping with me.

Aslong as the kit is OEM the insurance company should cover it. I know my insurance company covers everything that is on the car as long as its OEM. If i start telling them about my aftermarket things well lets just say my rates like to go up.

$1025 with shipping but considering they had to source the components from 3 separate warehouses, they are probably going to pay more than I did for the transit. They got the front lip from NJ, the rear from GA and the sides from another state...just forget which one. All components get shipped to them 2-day and then they send it to me via UPS Freight (which is about as fast as shipping it by covered wagon). Looks like next week.

No problem kadabra glad to be able to help (finally, contributing to the community!) I just installed my lip kit yesterday, wow, it's awesome, now I need some bigger exhaust tips, but my friend broke one of the bolts that holds down the tip...hmm...

But as a general rule, if the body kit is not already on the car when the car was bought new, the body kit will be viewed as aftermarket add-ons and so will not automatically be covered. In BC, ICBC will cover aftermarket equipment (non-OEM stereo, other permanently mounted pieces) up to a certain amount. Beyond that amount, there is always this "excess equipment coverage" that one can buy to cover everything else installed on the car.
