Thumbs up Installed the Comptech Icebox

yes!!!

got it installed today and it feels great

i can feel the extra torque at low rpm right away, more responsive and stronger pull below 2000rpm~

defintely a great mod

haven't tested in high rpm yet since today is still snowing, will try in a few days~

What is a Icebox, where does it fit, and i though people remove this to fit in a CAI?

The Icebox is a CAI. It looks like the stock air box, 'cept the intake resonator gets replaced by a plastic air intake, the Icebox contains a foam air filter and the 'plumbing' from the throttle body gets replaced.

Yes, Yes, but don't you have to remove this anyway to fit in CAI? i'm thinking of getting a CAI, see my other thread on AEM, Injen, or Generic + K&N. Also, has anyone changed their intake manifold? is the power gain worth the price?

Sorry for hogging up this thread, but, so wait, which one gives better sound and which one gives more power gain? is one more maintenance intensive than the other?

I am not sure who you meant this question for, but the Icebox IS a CAI. If you want sound, don't get an Icebox. All CAIs have about the same level of maintenance. Power gains are about the same for all CAIs. Although, I have not seen any numbers for how the gains for a CAI compares to simply removing the intake resonator and replacing the stock filter with a K & N.

not a worry when you are talking about an air intake. Its only pipe with a filter on the end. You can get the "cheep" cai's off Ebay for like $50, then get a good K&N filter for the end and you have a CAI just as good as any other for half the price. That is what I am going to do (I'm a poor college student...)

It sounds just like removing the big intake resonator and putting a K&N in, well maybe a notch or two quieter - cause thats exactly what you are doing

Agreed... Plus, I am not really into non-value-added sound for the sake of sound, which is what draws me to the Icebox... I want the power...and if added sound is required, then so be it... But I am not going to buy something just to add additional decibels...

Are you going to spray it with that stuff that keeps the chrome shine on them? I read about it on one of these threads...not sure which...

Did you end up yanking the front bumper? I know you are supposed to, but I hear that you can take some shortcuts and avoid the bumper removal...

I really hate taking that d*mn thing off again... I did it for the front lip of the underbody kit... People say that you don't need to...but all I had was the Acura installation instructions to go by...and it said to remove it... so I did...

I have to believe that yanking that front bumper on and off can't be good...

Is that right? Cool... I'd love to see pics of the color they turn... I just haven't seen them installed...

BTW, I took a look at your set up (in your signature)... Dude...you've got a sweet ride! Was it difficult to get the 03 Nav into your ride? (okay, a bit off topic...)

nah i am taking my time one by one

that's where the fun is

if you just put them all at one time it has no fun and you cannot feel the difference~

each time i put sth on i feel a difference and that makes me feel great~

i will do the coilovers in late march or april to avoid the snow
