First I like to say wow nice layout. I'm impressed. Anyway, I was driving home after getting my intake installed. On the freeway, a guy in a 330ci comes flying behind me and slows down suddenly behind my ass. This got me pissed so I changed lanes to the left. This asshole changes lanes behind me. This really pissed me off!!! I changed lane again to the left and downshifted and floored my car. Holy cow!!!, my car came live and moaning like a ***** in heat. The guy changes lane to the right and floored his car. I reach 90mph easily and started pumping the gas. At the third pump, my car starts pulling on him. At 127 mph, I started to slow down. I beat him about two car lengths. He was hella pissed. He flew passed me starts weaving through traffic like a madman. After 10 minutes, I saw him getting pulled over by a cop........
I love my CAI!!!!!! This is definitely a must have.....

 

I gotta ask. What do you mean by pumping the gas?

I noticed that if you floor it and release and floor it again fast, the car goes faster.
Everyone on the freeway will know went you floor the car. Sounds great.....!!

 

don't get me wrong, i'm not doubting this kill, so no flaming, but i have both cars and the 330ci is much quicker on high end. it seems to pull faster. Dunno but i'm comparing a 99 TL to the 330, i don't know what year TL you have. the 5 speed makes the race alittle closer. So from my experience on a normal basis I think the 330 will win 8-10 times. But nice kill none the less

 

Damn, I can't wait! My AEM CAI should be coming in a few days.
BTW, who installed it and how much?

 

The acceleration is smoother than before. It quiet under 3000 rpms. I got it installed at the dealership. $75 per hour. It took about one and 1/2 hours.

now don't get me wrong but are you sure it's a 330 ci not just a 323/235/328 with the 330 badge...

The reason why I say that is because a friend of mine got the 330i auto, and another guy got the M3. I have to say that the 330 is hell of a car. My body's E36 M3 5 spd pulls to 200km/h and starts to slow down. The 330 automatic got all da way to 220km/h easy...

On the other hand, I am pretty sure that our TL can play with them. until we hit 4th gear... Nothing you can do about it...

I know it's hard to believe but it was definitely a 330ci. I saw the badge when it passed me by. But my friend kick my ass yestersday. He drives a 2002 330i with exhaust and wheels. You can't win them all.....

 

Please tell me you didn't pay over $100 to have your intake installed.

 

yea, i was wondering about that. i went into a local shop here and one dude was like, maybe 20 bucks. he wasn't sure, but he said prob not much more than that.

 

Never go to a dealership for "easy" installation. They will always rip you off big time.
BTW, does anyone have a dyno with just an AEM CAI on?

 

Jens at Park Ave Acura installed my Xephyr during the TL meet. It took him about 20 minutes..... Wonder what they were doing for the other hour they billed you for

Ok, the AEM may be SLIGHTLY more difficult than the Xephyr since you have to disconnect/reconnect a few more hoses, but still......

did that bmw give you a 10sec head start? my brother has both cars and i've driven both, the 330ci would smoke the hell out of the TL...

 

I am still confused as to what pumping the gas means...

And I hope you didn't pay to have the intake installed. Only problem I had has the mounting point not lining up properly, but total install time is like 30 mins for me I think, unless the resonator is still in there.

 

pumping does nothing some people pump to get it to drop a gear when i doesnt want to but at that speed pumping wont do anything but slow you down. i have never seen anyone go to the track and pump the gas to get a better time.

 

people think pumping makes them go faster, but really it just feels that way cuz the sudden deceleration/acceleration.... nice kill... never raced a 330 with the TL but i spanked one with my 04 accord... 4 cyl 5spd... believe it or not that car pulled harder than the TL... the auto tranny is killing this car!
