I bought an used comptech exhaust and all it came with was the 4 screws. It is not hard at all installing. Make sure you have at least one wratchet to work with and lots of WD40. The screws are tight as hell. Remove the two screws from connection points of the Y pipe and you should be able to lift up the hangers. Took me an 1 1/2 hr because it was cold and I took my time. Oh one more thing, after you put on the exhaust, they may not look even. I used some zip tights to make them look even. If you have any questions, let me know.

You can see the left muffler is hanging lower. This is a old pic, now it is even because I used the zip tights to pull it up.

he he.. funny CAPS lock pic!!

mine was brand new and came with the same stuff that TypeSDragon's did, so that's what they all come with. It took me about 1/2 an hour to do. It was very easy. Hardest part was getting the old exhaust off b/c the bolts were so damn tight. That alone took me 15-20 min. I have zero mechanic hands-on knowledge other then changing oil and I did the exhaust in 1/2 hour.... so that means anyone should be able to do it. Good luck

Total newbie question, but what does the Comptech Exhaust do for your car? It is strictly for esthetics?

Sorry for the stupid question!

The exhaust is only for looks and sound. Maybe a 2-3 hp gain max.

When I installed my Comptech exhaust the right side did hang lower than the right but it was very easy to fix without using zip ties. I simply loosen the attaching bolts and had a helper hold the muffler up while I retighten the bolts and it worked great-nice and level now. I hope this helps.

The shop manual shows gaskets, but there are none required - it is a press fit and the tolerances are such that no leakage has occured in the 3 I have done.

Removing the stock bolts is tight, as they are a locking type nut. I personally did not like the droning boom sound inside the car, and sold them to one of the posters oin this thread (anonynmity retained).

I'm with RR on this one, too much cabin noise for me. Don't know how the quiet tips affect that.

If I wasn't concerned with noise I'd be tempted to install flow masters again, after hearing that sound clip someone posted last week...

I wish the tips had a centering piece in them like the stock ones and I'd buy those instead of a cheap bolt (that most people have stripped) that pushes from one side...

What you gotta do to get the screws off...either get a 2 ft long metal tube or another wrench, and put the tube over the wrench for a larger leverage arm, or hook one wrench into the other...took me about 10 minutes to install once I tried that. Did it at 9PM in a parking lot at an Acura meet You can check out pics if you want at the website in my sig...

When I installed my exhaust, it was 40 degrees outside - didn't want to spend more time than I needed. Getting the screws off was really tough. I called a mechanic friend I know and asked his advice. He told me to use a torch! WTF is that, I'm no mechanic and have no torch. Then I realized I have a cooking torch (for creme brulee for all you chefs ) Sprayed some lubricant on the screws and torched it up for a couple minutes. Screws came off like that. Butter! I was pretty impressed with that technique as well as my ability not to start a fire. Good luck!
