Inspire emblem is here... Should I do it?

I just got the Inspire emblem in today. Should I do it?

I only got it because it was such a good deal; it was an impulse buy. I have it in front of me, but I still don't know if I want to put it on the car or not.

If I did do it, I wouldn't change the F/R Acura symbols, so it will say "A" "Inspire" on the trunk lid.

I'm not making my decision based on the poll results. Just interested in what you guys think about it.

MrHeelToe -- he's an official vendor here. Send him a PM. He said he had two left, and I took one of them.

I was in a similar predicament. My good friend bought me the Inspire badge for my birthday. I just couldn't get myself to remove that beautiful Acura "A" and put a Honda "H" on it. Sooooo I removed the "Acura' badge, removed the "3.2 TL", and removed the "Type-S" and Voila" (see pic below). Some may say it looks stupid doing a partial conversion, but you know what, who cares. I think it turned out pretty good; it's nice to be different

That's pretty much identical to how mine will look, minus the spoiler. I'm glad you posted that picture, thank you.

Basically this is how I did it:

(1) I peeled off the Acura badge with my fingers (others say to use dental floss and what-not). Next I used Goo Gone to remove the remaining tape.

(2) I used a cleaner wax to clean the area of dirt.

(3) I re-waxed the area. Then I wiped it down with a bit of water to remove some of the wax dust. Some say not to do this because it makes the surface "slippery" and hard to adhere too. I found this not to be the case. I have had my Inspire badge on for a couple years now and have had no problems with any of the letters falling off.

(4) After thoroughly cleaning the area, I carefully lined up the badge to make sure that the "pit" or the "V" on the cardboard was directly underneath the tip of the "A".

(5) Next I made sure that I lined the letters up horizontally with the reflective portion of the rear tail light diffuser

I made sure not to press too hard the first time to make sure that if the badge was not straight, that I wouldn't have any problems removing the letters and placing them back on the cardboard (which I ended up having to do).
Hope this helps, good luck

Cool, thanks. I was mainly concerned about lining up the new emblem (steps 4 and 5). I've done debadging before, so I have a pretty good idea of what to do on that part.

Thanks again.

Hey PA -- you've seen the "A" badge + "I N S P I R E" in person on my car last year at Buffalo Wild Wings... you said you wanted to do it ... why back out now? Just wait 'til spring so you have something to look forward to doing, even if it'll take you 1/2 hr to do.

I was just curious... has anyone tried using a similar-sized Honda badge? I mean, instead of buying a real JDM one for a lot of money, has anyone tried cutting the two prongs off the back of a USDM one you can pick up at any Honda dealership and just cover up the holes on the trunk lid??

Okay, I'll be there in a few minutes.

I remember reading somewhere that most of the Honda emblems don't line up with the holes on our car.

I would have to make sure that whatever model emblem I use, the holes on my trunk lid can be covered up, and also match the contour of the lid. There's a slight curve built into our trunk lids, so I would have to find an emblem with the same angle of the curve. Otherwise it will probably come off later on.

I'm gonna take a close look at my cousin's 6th gen Accord rear emblem when I'm home next week and see if it'll match up mine.

heat the emblem to get a slight curve in it. im sure that you can get it to cover the holes.
