Awww, give him a break. Anyway, I have no clue as to why the Injen intake costs more than the AEM. If you're intake shopping (duh, obviously), then definitely go with the AEM. I don't know that much about Injen intakes, but I do believe a AEM would be a better purchase, not just for cost purposes, but it should offer a little better performance.

another intake thread?
Yah uh....how much horsepower does the intake produce? And is it at the wheels? Does anyone have a Dyno? Should I get the bypass? What will happen if I hit a puddle, how many inches deep does the puddle have to be to do damage? Ummm....what color do you think is best? How do I install? And uh....sorry for all these questions, but I'm a newbie!

rayman009: dude you should try taking out your airbox resonator and adding a hi flow filter. it is awesome! i just added my filter yesterday and that thing is straight badazz! plus, i hear it produces very similar effects as a $200 intake.

to remove the resonator box you have to take off the front bumper

then you will see a large "box" near the driver side wheel
just unscrew the two screws and pop the bumper back on again

later

I just removed my resonator box yesterday morning, and i checked the air filter at the end of the day, it GOT DIRTY QUICK!! I had my car for 8 months, and I just removed the resonator box out for 1 day, the filter collected more dirt in one day than in 8 months. It does sound better, you can say that it does kinda replace a $200 CAI. Does anyone also notice the increase in dust/dirt?

I read the same thing. Here's a test that was done on different CAIs. The car tested was an RSX though. Pretty cool test nonetheless.

im not sure if theres a dyno from a tl, but from old posts by evolake(forgot spelling) he first had a injen with aem bypass and he changed it to aem/aem because he just preffered having things the same brand...he posted that injen felt more quiet at idle and also louder at vtec...and felt a little more power...

no, my resonator has been out for months now.

it's pretty clean.

if you live in a dirty area, you check it more often.

with the resonator you are pulling some of the air from the engine bay, it's not hard to assume that the air coming straight from the bottom of the car would be a little less than clean.

i feel no need to purchase a expensive intake, as a comptech drop in filter with more filtering element works for me.

i might try a amsoil filter though, just b/c i'm curious.

It is better to replace your factory one with K&N or Comptech because they are washable/reuseable. Plus, they cost just as much as a factory one that you have to buy over and over. my Comptech filter was like $50 and some change. Some people say they don't notice a difference in power but I can feel a pull going into 2nd and sometimes my tires peel out in second. They did not do that before I had the removed resonator/air filter.

is there any long term effect from removing the resonator? Should i just avoid any risks and just get a short ram, and also it'll make my engine look better.

I don't think there would be any long term risks, I've only had mine out for a few weeks and I haven't had any problems. I would imagine that its safe to do because there is really no chance of water induction and its a lot cheaper than SRI. If you just want the looks under the hood, I'd say go with short ram.

Intakes just look so DAMNED GOOD under the hood.

I wonder if comptech produces a foam cone filter?

I think it would make a nice addition under the hood.

Has anyone painted theirs black to match the inside of the engine bay?
