Okay, here we go again folks. Anyone else having a problem with their windshield wipers leaving marks and residue all over their windshield? Well, I am having this problem. So, I went to the dealer, and sure enough there is an issue. The problem is that the windshield washer lines and assembly are disintegrating and getting all over the windshield. Nice, huh? Well, my dealer is replacing all of the effected pieces today, no charge of course, and it will be done this afternoon. I will let you all know if the problem is solved. From what I understand the Acura dealership got a memo on this problem, they just aren't telling anyone about it unless they ask.
I wash my windshield and wipers, scrub them down every time I wash my car(once/twice a week), I still get that residue crap all over the window. Mostly getting lines where the wiper stops to go back down towards the hood... Besides that, if the windshield gets dirty, turn on the washers and all the wiper does is streak the windshield even more. Best of all, I'm on the 3rd set of wipers, even though each one I replaced never needed to be replaced to begin with.

I also have the streaking/oily residual materials on the window and the white line where the wipers stop. The white line is very annoying as its in my sight line. I called the dealer and they said its a generic problem outlined in a tech bulletin and would fix it at no cost except my time to bring the car into the shop. So I am bringing the car in next week to have warrentee work performed on my warped brake rotors and pads.
What a life, I used to have a Chrysler Concord and I thought that it was a poorly made car, but maybe all cars stink. The next time maybe I'll buy horse.

I have the same problem although it is less noticeable after I treated the windshield with Rain-X. I'm going to get my oil changed Saturday and I'll mention it to them along with the warped roters.

Jimf LOL. A horse might not be such a bad idea. Anyway, my dealer called me back and they have to replace the washer reservoir, as well as, the wipers. That should take care of the problem. This issue is in a service bulletin to the Acura dealerships, so your dealer's service department should know about this. Just ask them.

Not sure, but I got it fixed this weekend. It was getting worse after my last post. Since I was already taking it for my first oil change I mentioned it to them. They also took care of my warped rotor problem.
It seems as though the plastic/rubber that is used for the windshield washer tubing is breaking down when it comes into contact with the windshield washer fluid. Once the gunk gets on the windshield, it screws up your wiper inserts. They ended up replacing all of the washer tubing, they drained and flushed the washer solution and replaced the wiper inserts. Between that and the brakes it took them all day.
Since I was there, I was nitpicking about a small imperfection on one of my wheels that looked like pitting. Thought they would give me a hard time. They called back stating that not only did they replace that wheel, but two others (which I didn't even notice anything on), gave me four new center caps and all new lug nuts.
I was impressed. It was Woodfield Acura.

how old are your cars? Mine's almost a year old and I've got that streaking too....but I also used the wiper blades like a maniac during the winter......anyone in Ontario (Canada) here have the same problem and got their blades replaced under warranty?
I have the wiper problem too. I'm glad you guys posted this because I was going nuts thinking it was the rainx, bad blades, etc etc.
I called the dealer today and he told me that they don't replace the tubing; they only flush the system, replace the blades, and put new fluid in. He said it was because the alcohol content in the factory fluid was too high for the tubing.
Anyway, I get it fixed tomorrow. 45 minutes he said.

I'm assuming you've already gone through the original batch of fluid.
If so, have you already replaced the wiper inserts? If yes, is the smearing still happening? If so, I'm guessing that the tubing might still be a problem.
If you haven't replaced the original wiper inserts or if you have yet to use up all of the original washer fluid, just flushing and replacing the inserts might work.
Yes, you're correct -- I've gone through more than one tank of fluid and I've replaced the wiper blades. The problem didn't start until recently so either the fluid I've got in there is also not compatible or the tubes were damaged from the factory fluid and didn't start 'melting' until now. I told the dealer this but they insist on doing the standard procedure for everything, even if it is logical to think that it might not solve the problem. I'm sure I'm in for a couple of visits -- the last problem I had was a broken seat (cracked seat rail) that they tried to fix 8 times before they finally replaced the seat. I had to drive nearly an hour 8 times and take off at least that many hours from work. Acura got a letter on that one but it didn't help me any. Love the car, but not impressed with the company.
Oh well, with any luck they'll fix it the first time. Doubt it though.

hmmm... i guess i got lucky (*knock on fake wood*) cuz both my 00TL and my 02 TL-S are fine. and i go through the windwasher fillup in several months - yeah i know its a lot, but i cant stand **** on my windshield, very distracting to drive when there crap in ur field of vision
