Impala SS kill.

At 1087 miles, I think the 'break in period" is over..................so no more letting minivans keep up with me.

Not much of a story, as I was not expecting him to race, and it happened pretty quick, but is is amusing nonetheless. I was at a red light, and what I thought was a state police cruiser( like most, I have learned to recognise those suckers in the rearview day OR night) pulled alongside. It was not a cruiser, but one of those black SS models with the grey stripes going down the hood and rear deck. The guy didn't look like he would race, but I inched forward to test the waters. He sat there doing nothing, so I figured he wasn's interested. When the light turned green, I took off and to my surprise so did he. I got about a car and a half length on him and that was as far as I could pull away and we maintined that pace up until about 70 mph( in a 45 zone........and the two lanes merge into ONE) and I then took the lane over and dropped back to 55. It would have been interesting if this was a longer road, BUT as far as I see it he got OwNeD.

Anyone else have experiences with the Impala SS?? There are a lot of them up here, and I will probably run into more once the weather finally warms up.

There are plenty here in North Florida--redneck country. Most of them sport some Nascar number on the back, too so they deserve to get owned every now and then...

I used to have a 95 Impalla SS before I got my TL-S. It had a lot of balls, but what made it slower than it should have been was its weight and gearing. It used to shift into 2nd gear at 54 mph and from 2nd to 3rd at 97 mph!!!

TL-S is much quicker off the line.....

I don't think the current Impala has a "SS" model. I'm sure he means the older V8 RWD. The FWD one's a joke. But I have a feelin' since everyone's goin' "big," Chevy, might just bring a "beefed up" model back. (kinda like what they are doing to the Caddy CTS... they're droppin' a V8 into that thing as an option)
