Impact Screw Driver. how does it work?

Hi.
As I'm planning on replacing rotors soon, I want to find all information prior to start the job.
I know that I can loosen the screw that is holding the rotor by using impact screw driver. My question is, how does it work? Do I just place the impact screw driver on the screw and hit it with hammer? Then, does the impact screw driver turn in counter-clockwise to loosen the screw? or I need to turn it counter-clockwise after hitting it with hammer? Sorry about dumb questions.

u hit it right on the head (no pun intended) something in it makes the screw driver turn on impact, definitely a worthwhile investment for the brake job, saves a lot of time and swearing.

yes that all you do just hold and hit, it was the only way my civic rotors were coming off, there was no way in hell anything else was loosening up that screw.

One thing you need to be sure of is the rotation of the driver when you hit it. Make sure it is loosening the screw and not tightening it. I know this might sound obvious but you'll be amazed how many people made this mistake.

i've made tha mistake of having the driver on the wrong direction. like ww stated make sure its going the right direction. i ended up braking the bit which was a mac tool that i borrowed from my friend. dont know how much it costed to have it replaced. i broke it when i did pimpravi's ssm tl.

it's a great tool for breaks. if u plan on doing brakes get it.
