I'm so pissed!!
I was going to change my oil tonight .... bought the Mobil 1 oil filter & 5w-30 synthetic oil. I then jacked up the car a bit ..... and realized that I didn't really feel comfortable getting under the car trusting my life to a hydrolic jack
so I'll have to go to a shop and have them change it for me. I was really looking forward to doing it myself

Oh well........... just sharing my disappointment

If your really worried, put something under both wheels just in case the jack fails....(AKA jack stand or even a block of wood)
which it probaly won't unless it's really old!!..... GO-typeS is right E-brake 2....shouldn't take long at all!

Why not use jack stands? They are relatively inexpensive. I have four 3-ton each and I feel very safe when I'm under the car.
You can also take your wheels off and put them under the sides of the car. Worst case scenario is the car falls and smashes your rims and not your head.
Just remember to be careful and if you're truly not comfortable, take the car in to be serviced. Nothing wrong with that.

Never, never get under a car which is only supported by the hydralic jack. Always use a pair of metal stands to support a car. As a safe precaution, I also place the hydralic jack right next to one of the stands, in case that the stand collapse, I still have enough time to climb out.

I use a 2 ton hydraulic jack and two jack stands behind the front wheels. Works great every time and nothing to fear. I usually just do it without the jack so all the oil drains out of the pan.
You dont even need to jack the car up to change the oil if you dont have your car lowered
