Im a newbie here.

I bough a 99' TL on craigslist (my last time ever buying a car on that site). I was told it needed a $500 repair. Its $3000 in repairs later and I hope to take it for a spin on Saturday. I way overpaid for the car in the end but thats life. This is my 5th car ever. Now that I've vented I will say this is my first Acura. It cosmetically is 9 out of 10. Previous owner had an aftermarket stereo which sounds kinda washed out. Maybe they had a sub in there before it got repoed. Can anybody tell me how they perform in the snow?

Cars ive owned:
1998 Nissan Altima
1993 MX-6
2002 Audi A4
1997 Saturn SW1
-1999 Acura TL

I live in Fl. So I cant really help you with the snow question. But if you keep up with the maintenance these cars will run forever. I think you are gonna love the car.
Good luck, and enjoy!

last winter my TL endured a few blizzards. it performed wonderfully.

one day it had been blocked into a parking spot by the snow plows who drove through the lot and put a 3ft high snow bank behind each car. i had no shovel. just all season tires with 50% life left and an ice scraper. i said fuck it and put it in reverse and floored it. it took 3 tries but i got my TL out.

a lot of winter driving performance is on the driver's skills. winter tires will also help.

Shouldn't these be questions you ask b4 u buy a car? When buying used its always buyers beware. Don't blame cl. You always take a used car to be looked over if not buying from the brands dealer. You may pay a little more buying from Acura dealer but its usually a safer bet.

They do great in the snow with front wheel drive and the weight up front. Like any 3000 lb sled of metal though, they can get away from you on really slick and iced up roads. Stay straight, steady and off the brakes and you'll be fine. Sorry about your repair issues. Buying used can be scary. Even when checked out by a mechanic, things can go wrong a few months down the road that cost big $$.

I dont blame CL. The seller was just shady. He basically reset the codes. The tranny was taken apart (no work done though) and shoddily put back together and it ruined a few parts in the process. I tow it and shortly after it codes. I dont get any return calls or emails.

Damn, I was looking forward to testing out the car in the snow too (fwd) but I'm selling it before it snows. I had a BMW 330ci during my first winter and a 740i during my 2nd winter and the 330ci just sucks in the snow. The 740i was not bad for a rwd.

With sport all season tires and being lowered, my car was perfect in a freak snowfall - (while i was at school). They are front wheel drive and not the lightest girls out there. All this great traction wont help you stop though :P. With winter tires, you would be perfect.
