IL owners that lowered their car

Where did you get this install done? What springs/coilovers did you go with?

Why in hell do you want to lower it? You'll just tear up your innards if you ever hit a pot hole or a dip in the road?

hmmm.... yeah tell that to the entire tuning world, they all must be doing SOMETHING wrong...

besides, when you go aftermarket, with stiffer springs, there is less bounce, hence you will not hit a pothole, not to mention, in my years of driving i have never hit one in IL

you will rub more with factory springs than you will with comptechs or h&r, you only have to worry about clearing parking curbs and shit like that.

obviously if you lower it 2.5" and have +42 offset wheels, your asking for trouble...

I have the Comptech springs, i did the drop myself. yeah it was a pain in the ass to install springs myself, but im not paying someone else to touch my car.

I've got Tein SS coilovers with the EDFC. I like it a lot ... even on the softest setting the ride is still pretty firm. It helps to improve handling and makes the car look better imho. No idea where to get it installed in IL, but I had my Acura dealer do it here in VA. They didn't have any problems installing the Teins, although the EDFC was a first for them (but they did a great job with it).

You tell me which looks better ... the 4x4 look or dropped:

Dropped:

BTW- With 4 people in the car, I do not rub at all (stock rims of course), and with my drop I can go over speed bumps with no problems. For large speed bumps I do usually go over them at an angle just to be safe. I have not ever had a problem with pot holes, but then again the pot holes I usually encounter are not as big as some of the ones you might see in NYC or other cities.

I put comptech springs and tokico illuminas in my car. I did the install my self, I even put my camber kit in, you only need it in the rear of you go with the comptech. Very easy but have a lot of patience when you do it or you could screw up soemthing, like partially strip the funny looking screw on the mounting assembly....guilty for that.e
LiQiCe..Love the black headlights. I painted mine black too and put an Angel eye kit in the high beam. But my angel eye kit broke and the driver headlight had a problem with moisture which lead to a fried inverter so my stock headlights are on for now and I am back to the drawing board with the black headlights.

I have Tein SS as well and I love it...you learn the height of your car pretty quick. The first week you'll scratch a bit but you'll get used to it.

Your warranty is voided when the modification you did to your car, caused the problem you are having. If you bring in your tl for a hole in your exhaust, you will have to pay for it.
Be careful with how low you go..........A friend of mine has an RSX and he put the Tanabe coilovers in his car and it was so low that when he would turn the wheel, he could feel a popping sensation in the wheel. So we raised it up a little and the problem went away.

I got my Tein SS with EDFC at Garage Kwai in Chicago. It took them about 4 hours to install everything. The most time consuming part was running the cables for EDFC, the coilover install was around 1 to 1.5 hours.
