Ignition Coil
i had a misfire on a BMW. OBD II showed piston number 5. the BMW drove like it had a bad fuel pump. total cost of repair $160.
its a DIY. the part should cost around $50 and about an hour to switch it out. just make sure you know which one is bad....

If it takes you more than 5 minutes to switch it out, you are incompetent. And yes, they are about $50 a piece through the dealer. If it's the coils in the front, they are very easy. The ones in back are a little harder to get to, but still pretty easy to replace. You need an allen wrench to get them off.
Make sure it's not the spark plug before you go spend any money on coil packs.

Engine light was on. Had it checked, cyIinder 1 mifire. reseted the computer and changed all the plugs and the engine light came back on. had a diagnostic, came back misfire cylinder 1. I took the coil out and wrapped electric tap around the boot area. it didn't help. now i'm thinking of changing it.
unless i was wrong with which cylinder being number 1. is cylinder 1 the one in the back and left?
