IACV and egr cleaning question

my TL sometimes while sitting in traffic likes to idle a little lower than where it should and it doesnt really idle rough or anything, bout i can feel when it happens. I cleaned the egr ports already and i was wondering how to clean both the actual valve itself and the IACV, to me it sounds simple(just take off and clean parts) but i have read threads where they took it off and put it back on and they had a surging idle. My real question with that is what exactly the dos and dont's of the IACV

IACV is inside the TB on the bottom- 2 screws hold covr on - do replace gasket for cover so no air leaks
remove its rod and clean air slit and the bore it fits in

to clean egr - you removed the intake manifold from car and used 3 cans carb cleaner and a wire coat hanger to poke all the way thru length of manifold passage?
And removed the egr valve itself to clean the 2 holes under it - into the passage?

removal of manifold and TB without setting TB aside can result in shaking up crud or other issue inside IACV that causes rough running
IACV = Idle Air Control Valve

DO replace gasket from TB to manifold

ck the small hoses for the TB heater, if swapped with a vac line in the same area- it will run really bad!!!

@01tl4tl I did the egr port cleaning this past weekend and when it came to cleaning the port that leads to the egr valve its suppose to be a clear passage that flows straight through correct? I used carb cleaner to clean all the build up out but it seems like it was totally blocked further down the passage. I tried the wire hanger but had no luck getting through. The carb cleaner would pool due to the blockage. Any ideas on what to do?

you can use a drill bit and by hand drill it out.

There was a TSB for my accord that actually had us drill that passage out and put in a new sleeve.

99s had a recall that slightly enlarged the 1 port at cylinder and inserted a smooth bore into it- was supposed to cut down on the problem but did not
later years got 6 egr ports! still clogs!

you MUST spray and poke until it flows thru
anything less is slill blockage

3 cans of carb cleaner is common to get it all loose and out
Deep Creep works very well on this job too
and that wire coat hanger!
