I30 vs TL-S
#2
Three Wheelin'
We have been deciding between the 2, and finaly decision was the Type-S...
in my opinion, i feel that the type s is more dependable and sporty, what we didnt like about the 2000 TL was that its HID lights were a bit foggy at night time, now the 2002 is great, nice and clear.
Oh also, I30's wood looks too fake, and no 5 speed tiptronic transmission takes points off.
They type s always makes me race against other vehicles...hehehe, hope you all kno i'm only 14...i race with my dad sitting beside me...^^

It is better to compare the new I35 to the TL-S. At least the horsepower will be the same. If I had a choice, I would definitely pick the TL-S for so many obvious reasons.

If you want to drive a Nissan, go for I30. If you want to drive a Honda, go for TL. They are both fine cars in same class. I used to drive a Maxima, so I wanted switch to Honda/TL. Other than that I30 is a little bigger, different style, and 4 speed auto. I only had one problem with my 95 Maxima which has the same VQ V6 as I30. The alternator went out after about 60K miles. Other than that the engine is smooth, quiet, and strong. TL engine is louder, higher revving, and a bit more powerful.
If you into mods, there are tons of aftermarket parts for I30 engine. There is even a supercharger from Stillen that I think costs around 3-5 grand. You can get ECU, intake, tranny upgrades, brembo brakes, etc.

I'd buy a loaded Maxima SE OVER the I30. Just as good a ride and you can save some bucks. Also consider that the 3.2TL and 3.2 TL-S have a higher resale/trade value whenever you decide to move on than the Nissan products.

They are 2 different types of cars. I own both of them. This is my observation.
TL Type S-The moment you are behind the wheel. You have a feeling to race other people. =) The Type S looks better, it is more popular than the I30. You don't see much I30 on the road. The interior is little smaller than the I30.
I30-It is more like a cruiser. The fit and finish is better than the Type S (this is just my opinion, don't jump on me). It is a lot quieter than the Type S. The leather is softer and the carpet is better.
Since I have a 2 year old daughter, my baby always ride with us on the I30. It is because I won't have a tendency to race someone. If I drive alone or with my wife. I'll just drive my Type S and kill some car. =)

maxskills,
Yes, you are right about the price of the I30. I bought mine back in April, I was able to get it $600 below invoice. The dealer even throw in wood kit for free.
The $1000 incentive from manufacture to dealer is running through 7/2/01. So, if you have time, you can shop around for the I30 and the TL Type S.

Hopefully they will also come out with an AWD version (a la Skyline) of the G35, in wagon form.
