I will be getting my 99TL coming sunday** what to expect
I will be getting my 99 TL this coming sunday. I partially paid for it and I already have the Title but he has still the car. I will pay all of it sunday when I get the car. Right now I have a 99 RL and I am enjoying everything about the car.
* What do I expect with this car (99 TL)?
* What is the big difference between my 99 RL and the 99 TL?
* What do I have to look for and check first as soon as I get my TL?
* Do you guys recommend that I change the trasmission fluid as soon as possible?
* Also I registered at acuralink and showed that the switch lock recall wasn't fixed yet, should I schedule an appointment for this recall rightaway or it's ok to drive as it is?
* The TL have a navigation and the guy selling me said it is hard drive based not DVD. What does he mean?
Every help and suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
By the way I am new here. I use to frequent forums with "high traffic" on RL but it seems this forum is great on TL's.

RL is a much better car than a TL
RL is made in Japan and quality is well known with real wood and leather
TL only has fake wood and leather seating surface
TL has more power with the VTEC engine, RL has more low end torque (max torque at 2800rpm)
both are quiet enough and handling should be very similar

I would think TL would handle better than the RL since its slightly smaller, and a more sportier ride.

1) NAV Non DVD: means no dvd, less quality picture on gps screen. ALL 99's are like this, they work just as good though
2) Check all fluids, AIR and GAS filters. Quaker State, Jiffy Lube, Tire kingdom etc all do this for free.
3)Things to check:
Out/In condition, leather (if dry condition, if dirty clean AND condition), scratches (body and rims), suspension/interior squaks, ANY kind of sounds in the Engine, transmission shifting smoothness, DRIVE AND REVERSE gears when the car's cold.
I dont know what else...people help the list grow

RL's are a lot heavier than TL's. Don't need to worry about the tranny on a 99 since it's the 4 speed and has no recall on it. My car is pushing 106k and still looks and drives like it just came off the lot.
