i want red lighting inside

does anyone know how to make all the control panel and gauge lighting red?? kind of like how they are in audis. i think ours is all light green....i think red would make a good contrast with my blue exterior.

spend a lot of money?? i thought i've seen led's for pretty cheap on ebay....is there A LOT of bulbs i would have to hook up??

also, so basically, the reason they're green is because under all the panels, the glowing bulb is green colored? so i just want to switch it to red?

yea, definately....actually, you said you're doing super white, wouldn't that hurt your eyes?? from what i've heard, green and red are the most soothing to eyes, meaning that they are ideal for indoor lighting. i could be wrong tho.

the only worry I will bring up is how fragile the gauge cluster is, and everything on it....I would attempt that on a spare gauge cluster only.

but, Good Luck

I think my back is 80% and my front is 40%,

My interior is hot... it really is, and I have the ambient mood LEDs on top where they beam down on the shifter console area lightly as well in red.

Save your money guys, and just get rid of the stock HU, instead of making it beautifuil with RED/Blue/whatever LEDs...

And unless you are planning on changing ALL of the lighted areas in our cars, like Im sure turbox777 did, dont just change the appearance of one instrument...it will look :ghey:

by the way, if you guys want to experiment, I have an OEM HU from my 2000 that i can sell.

What I really want to do is to install blue LED for the A/C controls and the Clock...give me info on that!!!! That will match my neon blue interior beautifully.

i love the 2nd pic! i would love to make the numbers sharp blue, and do the A/C controls and the Clock, if you can post any info it would greatly be appriciated, since i do not wish to desoldier my whole car, and then probably knowing me, nothing will work.

so, those led's you got were quite expensive....what about those cheap ones on ebay, are they trustable, as long as they have the proper degree amount ( i believe u said get minimum 120) ??

cool colours such as blue and green are soothing on the eyes. warm colours are colours such as red and orange. personally, i would find the latter to be very harsh on the eyes at night. i would much prefer blue, green, or soft white.

BMW has the specific hue of orange because it is the most relaxing + it keeps the driver alert and awake, this is from their research.

I had to sand down my LEDs and they were not the ones on ebay. Definitely not, you will also need 2 types of resistors, standard and SMT (surface mount) the thin ones on the cell phones for the navigation unit.

I may write a DIY when I have free time this month.
