Since I installed the AEM short ram:

17.86 mpg
and
19.76 mpg

I do believe 19.76 is my all time high... though I think it stems from going to Bellevue from West Seattle 5-6 times. I'm going to try and chill on the pedal next tank of gas. If I can.

i think it's due to the fact that the short ram is less restrictive than the stock air filter...

Supposedly a less resctrictive intake decreases gas mileage, however somehow certain engines actually see an increase in mileage due to the engine combustion being closer to the stoichiometric, which is the ideal air/fuel ratio. This is the most efficient ratio. Hopefully, my engine will like the intake also and get better gas mileage. That means there was extra power to be extracted. The people that get better gas mileage probably noticed the most power increase due to just an intake.

*Tip* I never mentioned this, but I read in Super Street or Sport Compact that after each modification to the engine, you should disconnect the ECU and let it reset. Supposedly this will help the ECU adapt to the modification.

Yeah I've been meaning to disconnect the battery cable for 5 minutes or so then put it back... but I've put it off so long it probably wouldn't help. Plus if I disconnect the battery cable I have to turn off the battery backup alarm.

To clear the menory of most vehicles with OBD11 (all cars and light trucks since 1996), simply disconnect the negative battery cable and depress the brake pedal. This will discharge all capactors and erase the stored memory settings. If you do not depress the brake pedal (or turn on the lights), the memory can stay for several days and not be erased when the battery cable is removed.

to properly reset the ecu, you pull the proper fuse for a certain amount of time, according to the service manual that is

No shortram, but my all time is 16.1mpg..... Of course that was my first time I put gas in it, and it was before the odometer read 100miles. How long was it for you guys until the mileage got better? 600 miles? 1k?, 2k?

As of right now I get around 19-21 in city and 24-28 on highway, all depending on how much I accelerate.
