I have a 98' 2.5 TL that I've had for like a year, long story short it overheated beyond repair, dealer says I need a whole new engine ( a $500 diagnosis) and the warranty co. said I was neglegent ( after a month & the $500 diagnosis they required )

The long story starts from a noise I heard the day after I bought the car. It was a terrible whining noise later discovered to be the cooling fan which cost ME a battery because the dlr wanted $94 to tell me the obvious. Eventually, the radiator went out due to damage from the fan ( fan came off fan motor ), unless it was a defective radiator ( the plastic behind the cap cracked and exploded leaving the temp gauge to dwell to red and then to normal, yes normal ( no water on therm?) then horrible noises, then I got it off the road and it wouldn't start.

Has anybody else overheated or fought warranty issues???

HELP!!! I need to know what parts I need ( whatever new engine entails ) Where to have the engine dropped in, how and much total is it gonna cost. Thank you for your time.:yack:

Why not install a Type II Legend engine...it should drop right in.

You might have your local salvage yards search for a replacement. Some of them are linked to a regional databases. I'm guessing with parts and labor you're looking at $3500.

I say go hybrid! try the Legend engine...or even the J32A2.

Alien, I'm sure he'll be having plenty of fun if he even tries to jam a C32B into it.

You can get a JDM Legend engine for like 800 bucks on ebay...I think JDM's had 215-220 horses stock as opposed to the 200 horses the USDM Legends had. Just a cheap alternative...good luck again!!

Thanks for the info. I may have found a 97' 2.5 motor with 70k on it for $1,000.
