Lightbulb I NEED HELP???? Please..........

I am Planning on dropping a new engine in my TL. Either a tl type S or something else. Does anyone know a more powerful engine that i can put in besides the type S. I heard that there is a new Accord type R coming out. My Friends told me that it had 300 horses. Is this true or not. Thinking of dropping that in. Thanks A lot

Are you nucking futs? F=MA where are you....???

Set this boy straight... Show him the way...

With all the money you'll spend to "drop" in a new engine, you could probably sell your TL and buy an M3.

Better yet, if you really want 300 ponies, buy a TL Type-s, add I/H/E, S/C, when it comes out, nitrous....

Oy Vey....

I totally agree w/above...why didn't you wait for a tl-s...OR...just put in I/H/E, SC and NOS in your current TL..then get a v-afc and poss. a chip.

I love how nonchalantly he says, "hey I'm putting a new engine in my TL".

It's like, hey I'm gonna build me a house this weekend. Anyone know of a good lumber yard?

Not trying to bash you dude, but do you have any clue how much is involved in doing that?

I've heard it's a little more difficult than adding the "smokers package" to your car.

I too agree with everyone but if you're really serious why not consider putting a NASCAR engine in there. I doubt it would fit but what the heck, why not give it a shot. lol

I checked at my dealer, and they said about $6000 to put a Type-S engine and all the associated goodies in...

LOL Awesome comments.

I agree with NSX. WHY spend 30k to get TL and then change the engine. Join the NASCAR and race like there is not tomorrow.

I understand if it's a civic and you have like 3000 to spare. It is dumb to spend $6000 to replace already good engine.

I am sure your chikies will love to hear you say "yeah man I got this powerful engine in my car" Check it out LOL... It's loud as $#it you might want to get ear muffs.

BY THE WAY YOU DO NEED HELP!!!

Hey, I dropped a new 6 banger in my 1962 Chevy Nova convertible while in high school with no problem. TL can't be much different.

Fooget-a'bout-it, ba'da bing you're there.

Hey, I just stopped driving a 1976 Camaro with a 350, Hookers, and Flowmasters -- I bet if you bent and cut some it would fit. Plus, you would have that retro look (and sound). Just that the mileage sucks.

This is the funniest topic I have come across on here for a long time. And all your responses are even funnier. It just reminds me of all those guys out there that soup up their Hyundai's and Civics, with Spoilers taller than the car and custom rims that are more expensive then the car itself. We all go through stages like that, but there is a time to grow out of it and just buy the best you can get, fully loaded and look somewhat normal for a change if that makes any sense? Just tell this guy to buy a new car, enginer replacement? Now that is wacky!

No kidding - like you can do that in a weekend. That's really about the dumbest project I can think of for a TL. But who am I to say

Just look at your title "I NEED HELP"! LOL

Why do y'all give this guy such a hard time, while the person a couple of weeks ago who wanted to swap for his Dad's RL engine was treated so much nicer?

Also, you all talk like there's no earthly reason to consider this - but yet many of you have spent thousands of dollars modding your TLs. That goes counter to the person above who said something like, "just buy a fast car to begin with." Gee, some of you guys could have a GS430 by now, too.

It wasn't too long ago that people were putting 350 V-8 engines in Datsun Z-cars, when the "cool" thing to do was hot rod your American muscle car out. Now, all you rice boys with your hot rod Japaneese cars are trying to give this kid grief. Ironic...

Dude, you'll quit half way through!

Then you car will sit on the front lawn and grow weeds between the lug nuts and exhaust pipes!

-Gomez, I'd agree with you except there was more room to work with on an old Z. The car's now days are full of....well you know I don't have to start.

Never the less hauling in a new engine would be an under taking.

Like I said earlier, my dealer quoted about six grand to swap engines for TL to TL-S. Also, you'd have a lot of non-S parts left over.

Seems to me like six grand ain't so bad, considering:
Headers = 1100
Mugen exhaust = 1300
CAI = 160
APEXI = 400(?)
Labor = 400
...and all that for a measley 20 HP at the top of the RPM range.

Well... If you have the money to do something like this... You could maybe pay someone to transplant the guts of this car into yours.. It'll still be automatic, but you'll have bragging rights.. My guess is that it would cost at least 10-12 thousand, and thats probably conservative.

Call me crazy but I do think it is a feasible project. Look for a good deal on an engine possibly. I know a kid that had nearly a brand new PRelude that got totalled from the back.. The engine was fine.. look for something of that nature is my advice.. I am sure there is someone out there who drove their NSX under a truck or something and chopped the top off.. got it totalled by the insurance company and has a nearly perfect engine... Keep looking...

While you're replacing the engine, why not drop the top and have the first convertable TL.

Yeah acctually i was planning on making my tl a convertible. I had a nice plan for it to. Was planning just to cut out the middle but still leave the sides. Take out the back window and everything? I don't think swapping engines is a bad idea. If i can find something better the the type-s engine. This is my first car and i hate losing against a dumb ass cl type-s. 4 doors rule

This is the most retarded thing i have ever read!!

WTF?? You are going to spend 30K on a car and then Fudge it up with a needless mod??
Just to beat a CL-S.. you need to work on your self-esteem if that is what your life is about. You probably loose cuz you can't drive either! Take the emergency brake off, maybe you'll go faster.

I agree with ceriman about the car is going to sit on the lawn!! LOL.
I actually hope that you attempt it so that you can see how dumbass it really is to change your car, then you'll be out 6K!

IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T BREAK IT!!!

All I can say is much love Jeffy and good luck with whatever you do. Maybe you should buy a used sportsbike for $6,000 -- then you would smoke all da Cl's.
