I need brighter reverse lights

My car is tinted all around and I find I can't see anything when I back out of my driveway at night (no streetlights in my area). I'm not worried about hitting a car cause I'd see the headlights but I'd like to avoid running over one of the neighbor children (if possible) - anyone have advice on how to make them brighter? Can I just throw in a pair of superwhites? anyone done this and seen a noticable improvement?

No. I have hyperwhites on mine, and unless you change the wattage of the bulb...18W is 18W no matter what color you make it. Just because bulbs is "hyperwhite" doesn't mean it has higher lumens.

I have hyperwhites and they 'look' brighter when people from the outside look at them but i don't notice any huge difference when i';m backing up at night (20% tint all around).

Replace your bulb with an LED bulb. Check this out: http://autolumination.com/matrix.htm

anyone used those LED bulbs and noticed a difference? It seems like a pretty cheap solution.

I dont think it would make much of a difference. Our reverse lights, like all others, have a big diffuser around the bulb. Unless you remove that, then you wont see anything more from the reverse lights. They are not designed to light the road behind you, just to give warning to others you are moving!

Sorry i think the foglight idea is the only one that will give you what you need. With a small enough "projector" type of foglight AND a very creative install you could light the "backdoor" up.

Actually, you can get the Raybrig R118 18w HyperBulbs. I have them as reverse lights for my TL and they are alot whiter and brighter than the stock bulbs. They are not blue tinted like the superwhite bulbs. I compared both the Raybrig and stock bulbs and the Raybrig filaments are actually thinner and packed closer together than the stock bulbs, thus more lumens. The package claims twice the light output, but I would say it's more like 50% more light. Good luck finding these on the web because this bulb type from Raybrig is rare (even on the web) and I got them when I was in Japan.

why...i think it s agood idea..they make some pretty small fog lights now..if i find a cheap enough one..i'd probably do it...im sure i can cheaply hid it somewhere where it would be undetectable...or i can do allitle more and hing my licence plate so i can use the fogs for reverse...or tailgater's ....its pretty hard for me too see at night too..20% tints

can't you hook up some aftermarket reverse sensing system? I know that we once had it installed into our Ford Windstar after the fact for like 500 bux.
