Post I like those CL-S rims now!

Damn, I saw those pics of the laguna green TL with the CL-S rims and I'm lovin it. Its stock looking and gives it a aggressive look. I was dead set on getting 18's cause I always thought the 17's looked too small, but with the cl-s rims and the right tires they look phat! How do you guys think it'll look on a satin silver TL? Maybe chrome plate them or something?? Just curious what you guys thing

Ok, thankx again for the kind words. First you have to tell me how you made your signature. That's cool.
I was adamantly warned about the rubbing, but i refused to listen. 215/45/17's and the only problem you'll have is people staring. Hope that helps. The lower profile tire makes the rim look bigger.

I agree, if I could get a set of those wheels for around $200 a piece I would forego 18's. Since it's a Acura wheel I imagine there around $500 - $600 a piece.

Anyway to get a copy of that to make a clear full background on desktop?

Bobatimez, did you read this? Do you think this will be a problem with us in a long run or something?? They make it seem like its dangerous to put cl-s wheels on the TL

I agree, it looks tight! Mafioso, if you can get them cheap then go for it, but if it's going to run you like $400+ I think I'd go with 18's. I had a heck of a hard time deciding too. I orginally wanted the Volk AV3, then I wanted the CL-S wheels (till I found out that Acura wanted $465 a piece - no tire), finally went with DAZZMATIZ. I think I've made a good choice. Keep in mind, decide wisely cuz no turning back and wheels are probably one of the biggest investments you'll make on your car, unless you do the StreetEffectz thing (kick ass system, interior)

Good Luck!

Different strokes for different folks! Me, I'm a big fan of chrome although you'll probably get mixed feedback.

That's pretty kick ass if you can get them off one of our CL brothers! If you're set on them go for it dude! I personally think it looks very nice and subtle, yet sporty. No offense, it's no Racing Hart and it doesn't obviously stand out, but it does look classy/sporty.

True, but thats the exact look i'm going for. I want a more aggressive look, but still factory looking. And it really won't want out but I'll still look nice and different. If I get a set I might want to chrome them, but I have a silver car so I dunno if i'll look right with chrome

Are you kidding me? Although a totally different car, but my friend has Silver 540i and his chrome HRE's look tight!!!!!! He had the same concerns at first but when he got them installed, no regrets! He gets a lot of compliment from M5 guys!

The best i can do for you is this: I have an honestly good family friend who works at Honda service who installed and inspected the changeover. Plus, I've already acted as guinnea pig. no problems even doing u turns. After that, I have nothing else to offer.

My soulmate here is telling me that i should never have posted pics since she doesn't want people following. She also asks why there would be a rubbing problem since she's the only one allowed in the car

uh oh, I was just informed that the wheels will be fine driving day to day but will rub when the tires are on full lock with alittle compression and alot when on full out balls to the wall driving. Damnit, everytime my hopes get up someone shoots it back down.

Or you can always buy the 18' Alstadt's from StreetEffectz if he's still selling them. I almost bought them cuz they were oh so tight!!!!!, but my heart had DAZZ all over it. Plus Street offered a kick ass, too good to turn down "unless you were getting DAZZ " price. I'll be honest with you, if I hadn't had my heart so set on the DAZZ I would have taken his Alstadts off his hands the next day. Would have driven up to good ol' NJ from DC!

true, i was talking to him about that too. He's tryin to sell his car whole first, so I gotta wait. Think thats true about the rubbing though? He said the rub comes from the control arms and not the fender. ARRRRRGGGHHHH. Why does acura have to be some damn complicated!

I have a CL-P and didn't like the OEM's. I did alot of research in order to get the right wheels for my car. Ramsey Acura had fit 2 front CL-S wheel/tire combo's to my car. Upside: they fit and didn't rub in normal driving. Downside: they gently rubbed the control arms on full-lock. Also, there was quite a bit of rubbing on aggressive u-turns.....about 10-15mph. Bottom line: back off the steering on full lock about a fraction and the rubbing stops.
My concern (and why I got Borbet T's) was if they rubbed in these scenarios, would they rub in 9-10/10ths? Donnie Wilson at Ramsey Acura strongly advised against it. Keep in mind.....continued rubbing on the control arm may score the tire.

BTW, the CL-P and TL geometries are identical.

I hope this helps. I'm not trying to burst a bubble but my actual experiences led me to a different wheel.

Man, You guys are freakin me out again. Now I'm nervous about puttin 18's with a 45 offset on the car. Would the lower offset be better or worse than the CL-S wheels?

Mike, it's not the rim diameter that'll get you.....it's the backspacing. A 7.5 cross section with a +45 offset is a 5.5216" backspacing....well within the 5.625" limit. A 7" cross section with a +55 offset is a 5.6654" backspacing....slightly above the 5.625" limit. The rubbing will be minor, but if the overall diameter is above the overall plus 1 or 2 upgrade....be ready for some problems.

O.K., If I understand this correctly, (forgive me I'm an Architect not an engineer) The 18" wheel with the 45 offset is the better choice than the 17" Cl-S wheel with a 55 offset, right?

Mafioso you paranoid SOB...

read this: http://www.acura-tl.com/ubb/Forum11/HTML/001167.html

This will dampen all your concerns about fitment. It has all the tech data on the wheels and the difference between a CLP/TL and a CLS.

I think the benefit on having the 18's is that it'll have less of a chance to rub but the speedo will be 3-5mph off cause of the 225/45/18, with the CL-S the speedo should be the same but more of a chance to rub

true, but you'd get it recalibrated everytime you switch back and forth from the stock to your aftermarket? I figure with the CL-S rims, I never really make extreme U-Turns or do any ball to the wall driving so I should be fine, that or just get new tires not as wide and deal with the speedo maybe 225/45/17 or 215/45/17

I live in Florida. so when I put the 18's on car, they will stay on the car. So I will only have to calibrate it one time.
