I knew this would happen to me
I was driving on I-5 to the states yesterday. As I was passing a truck :chainsaw: on my right, a stone came up and hit my windshield. I found a chip on the the windshield after checking it out. Can this chip be fixed WITHOUT replacing the whole thing?

most chips can be fixed, just have it looked at right away, once it cracks it usually cant be repaired

I'll guide you through, since I know my way through claims and coverage...
Whether or not your insurance company will pay for the windshield will come down to what you've purchased as your policy.
If you take a look at your policy and see a heading labeled as "winshield/glass buyback" or somthing close to it, you have the coverage and you'll be taken care of. If not then, you're on your own.

Yeah those patch work guys can do some amazing jobs. My friend had it done on his Accord. and I was truly impressed, but you have to take in before the chip starts to get bigger.

happened to me about 2 years ago ...
and I opted to replace the windshield. They tried repairing it first but I guess it was too far gone. Anyway - take it to someone who has done a lot of replacements! The guy that did mine worked at an auto glass place and had done hundreds of windshields.
Also, make sure you leave the windows cracked for a couple of days afterwards so that the air pressure when slamming the door doesn't unseat the windshield before the adhesive can dry fully. Don't have the job done by a mobile unit - which is popular these days but not as good because all sorts of contaminants could be blown around outside and mess of the adhesive. Also - make sure the techs are wearing gloves when they handle the new glass. Oils from your hand can get on the glass which can also ruin the seal.
BTW - I like my new windshield better. It has less distortion in the corners than the OEM glass and it has taken quite a few rocks and no cracks - only minor pitting.
