my 99 tl starts up sometimes and cuts off immedialely what might that be ... and also jerks when i switch from driv to reverse ...


p.s anyone knows someone in NYC WHO CAN FIX ACURA WELL BESIDES A DEALERSHIP

 

1. check egr, check cold start valve
2. check tranny fluid

 

A mechanic should be able to fix it Get the transmission checked out...

 

There can be many causes of engine stall problems. Do a search for "Stall" and you'll find many previous discussions.

Here's an easy one to check. Do you have another Honda or Acura key on your keyring? A second "immobilizer" key can cause a TL to stall. My 1999 TL was having all sorts of low idle stalling problems until I removed a Honda immobilizer key from my key ring.

Also, the keys can also go bad. If you have a spare, try that one.
