I just moved to Alabama from Pennsylvania and I was shocked when I saw that ammendment to the state constitution. Other than Birmingham and Montgomery, this state is straight county. I was also shocked when I saw a fishing bait vending machine outside of Wal Mart! Are you kidding me?! Hey, at least prostitution was banned in unincorporated areas of Jefferson County (where Birmingham is). We're progressive down here!!

As for the votes for Buchanon, he got about 8000 in 1996 in that area, so 3000 isn't totally unreasonable. After all, it is where Rush Limbaugh votes...

Those folks in '96 (including the fat idiot) voted for Bush this time. We're talking about 3000 people, the vast majority of which are Jewish Democrats. I understand some of them survived concentration Nazi concentration camps. I don't think you're going to find too many lining up to vote for a guy who has written about what a great leader Hitler was; do you?

Ghost, check out "Race Against Time" by Piers Anthony. In the book, interracial marriage was so widespread that the population became one race, and it was disasterous. An interesting view on it. ;-)
