I got beat by a.........
Last night i was out driving around and behind me comes some tricked out japanese car and tries to pass me. And I floor it, cai roaring and he stays even with me. Later we come to a red light, I look over and he had an early 90's mitsubishi eclipse gsx turbo all wheel drive. Boom light turns green we nail it, and he does not pass me, his engine was revving really high and i could hear his turbo blow off valve. We got up to about 90 and slowed down for the next light. At the innersection we waited for the green. light turns green I'm with him to second gear and he drops me, he puts at least 6 car lengths on me. His car was fast. He had to have nitrous..... it caught me completely off guard.........shocked.......just shocked..........

I hear ya!!
I had an encounter with an early 90s gtx in my 94 RX7. Let me tell you, it wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be. We both jumped on it and I got the jump but that was about it. Half my car was in front, and I was like whats wrong with my car. Anyways we stopped and talked. He had a turbo upgrade, header, intake, full exhaust, and some low end work. I told him it was impressive. He was 19. I never new they had that potential. And yes DMS = Diamond Star Motors
Let me shed some light on this topic since I've owned a DSM for over 10 years:
DSM = Diamond Star Motors (The DSM plant was made by mitsu & chrysler for DSM's & Galants). They include the Mitsubisi Eclipse (not the latest one); Eagle Talon (stopped being made in 1998, and plymouth Laser (stopped being made in 1993/4?)
The first Generation or 1G's are the 1990-1994's
The second, or 2G's are 1995-1999
The third generation or 3G may be the latest eclipse, but DSM'ers have shunned that model since it offers no turbo and no awd.
stock, the 1Gs and 2Gs run low 15sec. 1/4 mile times
BUT with MINOR mods can EASILY run high 13's and low 14's, and once you spend a bit of $$ can run l2 & 13 second times.
1G's are the cheapest and easiest to make fast
2G's look much better but are more difficult to make as fast 1G's
GSX and TSI AWD are the awd models
The rest are FWD, not as fast as the awd's, but still pretty fast.
Many of my buds in NYC (NYC.DSM.ORG) run consistent 12's and a couple of guys run 11's - on street driven cars btw.
I've run a best of only 13.9, but the car was pretty mis-tuned at the time. Hopefully one of these weekends I'll get to the track again.
There is no beating an awd off the line. Rev to 5K and pop the clutch.
On the hway is a different story, as DSM's don't have the top end to compete with Supras and Vette's, but off the line is where most races take place.
I've read about a couple of guys on this board who have handed DSM's their asses, but I'd say those DSM's were poorly tuned and in poor condition, were automatics (smaller turbos & can't launch them), were FWD, or were operated by poor drivers.

Hey TLS260, it's called "gettin' f**ked with" He might have had NOS, but those things are d@mn fast, probably just playing with you to see what you had before he owned your @ss. Consider it a lesson learned until you get a supercharger or a 100-shot of NOS and some better tires than those @ss Michelins they give us stock. But keep tryin' and you might find a few you DSM's can beat, until they figure out that 12 seconds only costs them $1,500.00
