I feel like my Friends TL-P pulls better than my TL-s

i have a 02 TL Type-S with I/H/E/P but with a kind heavy system...
and i go to the gym with my friend in his 01 TL-P and i really feel like his pulls quicker than mine....
is there somethign wrong here? i remember people saying something was wrong with the wires or something, could it be that? or my system... (subs weigh 34 pounds and my box is made of 3/4" MDF wood that takes up most of my trunk, prob a good 50-75 pounds)

doesnt make sense.. TLP only runs 225hp and the TLS runs 260hp. and thats at stock. if you and him both have the same mods, still it should be the same results, or the TLS would have a bigger improvement from the mods. and 50 pounds shouldnt make that much of an impact especially when you have a 35hp advantage over him.

Doesn't he need to check that IMRC valve thing...somebody help him out. Or you and your friend need to do a side by side drag race and see who has the power.

most likely youre just doing regular driving.. or not revving as hard as he is. he's probably slamming on the gas and letting the damn car stay in vtec as long as possible but hitting redline everytime before gear shift and youre just semi-flooring it and letting the rpm's stay at a fair level before it shifts..

considering i have I/H/E/P, shouldnt there be no difference between the 2?

no chance. the 04+ TL's are just way too much. 270 for the base is nothing to mess with, even the TL-S will have trouble trying to pass it. especially when the new TL's are tagged with the manual. WHOA

exactly, but some highly modded TL-S can keep an edge on the new ones!

I dont know for sure, I mean on paper maybe, but that is not even very accurate - the times are all based on the drivers - but HP doesnt lie. I have driven all three - my friend just got an '04 TL and another guy we know has a type s. I really dont feel THAT much difference between those 2 and my car. I really think the whole front wheel drive kinda messes with the mind when you are haulin ass. Now when I drive a slightly modded mustang GT - then I feel like Im driving a noticeably fast car with better acceleration.

But thats just my bias for my TLP! obviously your rating scheme is probably right for speed purposes especially when you put in the 6 speed 3rd gen TL - fast

weird. but yeah i drove my friend's 04TL. he has the white one with the A-Spec kit. i drove it, but i didnt really feel that 270hp at work like i do when i drive the 350Z.. that drivetrain really does make a huge impact.

exactly, the front wheel drive really screws up the power and feel of a really amazing 3.2 liter engine...but front wheel drive does have some advantages, just not the fast car feel

I felt a good difference b/w my car and a Type-S... mostly in higher RPMs and higher speeds though. Up there^^ I was talking strictly by the numbers.

My girl has the 03 TL-P and i got the Type S and initially I felt the same, that her car seemed peppier and more spirited. But when we raced, I let her take my car, and she won, so I was at ease after that.

The feel that it pulls harder I believe is attributed to the wheel size and it being lighter and therefore gives the illusion that it goes faster. Its all in the mind.

Yours should definitely be faster, anytime you are in the passenger seat of someone elses car it always seems faster than it is. Have him drive your car with you in the passenger seat, its amazing how much faster it seems. I did this with my WRX previously and when my friend drove it, my car felt so much faster when i was not in control of it. His shifting was not even as smooth and it still felt faster with him at the wheel. Try it and let me know.

alright. i just got back from a drive in my friend's TL-S. he has an 02TLS and i got to drive it just now. the thing is, it has a smoother acceleration even before the VTEC. it starts off accelerating fast and when it hits vtec it doesnt get a huge boost because its already starting off pretty fast. the TLP doesnt accelerate as fast during lower RPMS. it actually just kinda accelerates normal til it hits vtec (3800rpms) and then it gets a HUGE boost and gets that jump. the TLS will always win, its just that the TLP is peppier and alittle more jumpy because its getting a more noticeable feel once it gets into the higher rpms. thats it.. its just that feel of the jump
