I chirp my tire in 2nd gear!!!
I couldn't believe it, the road was dry, and it wasn't that cold out there. The weather was nice, too. I took my TL to the back country road and just curising. I had a few chances where they were no body around, and perfectly safe to launch the car hard. Well, I didn't torque brake of anything, but once the car started rolling I floored it in 1st, and the SS shift into 2nd automatically, and it chirpped. Actually I tried it more a few times and it chirped again and again.
My tires are Pirelli P7000 SS, size 225/55/16. I have about 6000 miles on them. The thing is that my TL felt slower, and my tires have more traction then stock ones, and I can chirp the tire in 2nd. I wonder if it's because my tires are starting to get old (plenty of rubber left to burn actually) or if the TL does have that much power. it was about 20 C outside, so more power to the engine I guess.

I've experienced chirping in 2nd when I floor the pedal too. Just the other day I chirped it launching off of a red light. Dry day, about 65 deg. F (18 deg. C), tires properly inflated in the morning. Only 5500 miles on the tires.

sorry burst everyones bubble.. but the car chrips in 2nd cuz our tires suck. You will notice you car chriping more and more with higher mileage. I have 8500 miles, and i can chrip in 2nd with no prob.

I miss Toronto so much, yet school is so busy that I havn't been back to Toronto for a while... But let me know when you guys have the next me and what not... and I will try to make it...
I am guessing that it could be uneven tire pressure, I will go and check my tire pressure later...

I can chirp 2nd gear all the time when I'm in SS. All I have to do is shift about 1000 RPM's before redline (at around 6000 RPM'S) let up off the gas and floor it. It's pretty fun, makes me feel like i'm driving stick again.

well 300+lb ft of torque sure make some differences....
But I never let go of the gas thought....... I hope this does not mean I need new tires.........
