I'd be annoyed by the clickclickclickclickclickclickclick sound.

I currently have modified fast blinkers on my Accord..and I must tell you..it's soo cool in the beginning...then it gets on your nerves. I don't even use my blinkers 85% of the time now. BUT!!! On the FWY the fast blinking is soo useful..and sometimes it's pretty cool. But at other times..it's soo annoying. so it's a 50/50 depending on the mood your in. I kept debating on this for my TL-S....and I just remembered there is this mod you can do to the blinker relay itself..and add on a knob..so you can adjust the speed from super slow/stock/fast...it was pretty nifty. I might just do it on the TL. I like the semi fast, also I think it will also change your blinking lights to use the higher wattage from the bulb, instead of the lower one. Do you get what I'm talking about?!?!

It makes your turn signals flash faster. 2X, 4X, 6X.

I thought it was annoying too and on top of that, it makes you feel like the crystal clock in the signals are burnt or damaged.

I've seen that on cars....I always thought the signal mechanism was busted. Doesn't the same thing happen if you install the bulb inproperly?

I think it (install the bulb improperly) does that with a dual-filament bulb...or was it if you had two pairs of dual-filament turn signal bulbs (2 bulbs per side)? All I know is that my Tahoe uses two dual-filament bulbs (1157, I believe) on each front side for parking/turn signal, and if I twist and install one bulb 180 degrees it will blink rapidly when I activate the turn signal on that side.

Most OEM flashers have a flash rate that is determined by resistance load. They flash at a predetermined rate depending on how many and what types of bulbs the flasher expects to find in the respective sockets (set by the manufacturer). If a bulb blows (or an improper one is installed instead), the resistance changes as there is now less draw on the circuit and the flash rate changes accordingly. It's a pretty simple byproduct of the flash relay and works as a method to tell when a bulb is burned out.

The "brake lamp out" warning light on the dash works the same way, I believe. It checks the resistance of the filaments in the brake lights. If the resistance level changes (up or down), it thinks the change is due to a bulb out and the light comes on.

- still don't understand the point of this mod

- fast flasher is common on old cars with rusted out electricals

- why don't you just make it stay on -> fastest flasher possible!!

Some people actually find this pretty cool. It's like doing any other mods on the car. Some people like it..some don't.

i see sarcasm :p

Liron, Does it just replace your blinker fuse? So you can interchange it back and forth right?

Close; what they sense is current draw.

I have these flashers for my TL. THey were cool at first and just like everyone else said it gets annoying after a while. I recently took them out of my car, but will put them back in later on. I think they accutally look kinda nice and give the car a littel more attention too.

One of my friends had the flashers in his Civic. Except he had his hooked up to blink the signal light and brake light in sequence. Imagine this if you are making a left hand turn: left brake light flash & stop, then left signal light flash & stop, back to brake light. It was really cool, reminds me of those merge signal lights that you see on a tow truck or city engineer trucks that tell you to change lanes.

All of this sounds kinda corny to me, and it seems like you'd get bored with it easily.

Would that explain why, when I reinsert one 1157 turn signal bulb 180 degrees from it's original position (keeping in mind the bulb/wiring layout of my Tahoe as previously mentioned) it will flash rapidly whenever I engage the turn signal? Just curious since in my case, the bulb is neither burnt out nor of the incorrect type.

It's quite possible that when the bulb is 180 from normal, the contacts on the bottom don't line up correctly and if it is a dual filament bulb the draw is different. If it is a single filament the same could apply depending on how the contacts line up. I believe the 1157 is a double prong base.

I think it can be installed under the fuse box.
