hubbs lifetime oil filter
#2
For the cost I think I will stay with a standard filter.
More of a concern is how do you clean it. Right now I can spin the old one off and spin the new one on.
Found this
"Lifetime Oil Filter A Product of Hubb Filters, Inc Depending on the application and Oil being used our filters require cleaning between 15K-25k miles. You can use simple green or Dawn dish soap or a parts washer to accomplish this. Once clean take the contaminated fluid and dispose of just like you would used oil"
While the filters look nice and well made this just seems like a PIA. If I had a parts cleaner maybe. Still not sure what to do with the contaminated water. Place I take used oil doesn't want water mixed in with it.

There is also the downtime of washing and waiting to dry before reuse like K&N's air filters. Sounds more like a conversation starter than something I'd ever feel confident using on my own personal vehicles.
Some things are just meant to be used and replaced, like underwear.

Honestly I think the industry would use more parts like this in a more DIY world. But now it's much faster for a lube shop to discard and install a new filter than to take one off and clean/reinstall it.
So if you can get the filter clean and you don't mind the extra time cleaning it then go for it.
