I'd get snow tires personally.
You bought a performance car and you'd have to drive very carefully in snow and your no-season tires won't do that well on cold dry roads.
Snow tires in 16" are much cheaper than the stock MXM4 17" tires (or other performance tires) so the money you save by not wearing out your summer tires through the winter will more than pay for a set of steel wheels or second set of wheels.
The side walls will not be as stiff but the extra grip will give you more confidence to accellerate, turn, and brake.
What's the point having a stiff sidewall anyways if you're going to slide all over the place when you try to put pressure on it right?

Winter is coming soon in NJ area. What's the performance of TL-S in snow? (Or in cold weather.) Thanks for answering.

I actually drove my TL-S in the snow. (Got the car March 20th).
It was not a great snow, just a few inches, and the car handled OK. I would not try to "4 wheel" through unplowed areas as a rule, but it did pretty well on my unplowed driveway, going up into my garage.
I did as well as any SAAB I have owned in the past.....

These tires are the same as on the CL-S and they arent the greatest in the snow. If you need to get 16 inch snow tires, otherwise be very gentle on the throttle when accelerating, considering manually starting out in 2nd on slopes and troublesome areas, and get very used to that blinking yellow triangle in teh dash.

The first time I drove my car in snow it was fine. This was light snow though. Nothing like 6 or 7 inches, but more like 1 or 2 inches. It was fine. I had that Abs test noise go off a few times after taking off from a red light (my guess was the VSA going off).

i drove my cls on the snow last year.it is really stable and safe.but if u are talking about performance. i am not sure as i do not speed up or drive at high speed in snow as accidents might occur if u are driving fast and no matter what kind of car u are driving.so always drive careful in snow and be safe. i can guarranty u that cls or tls is very safe on snow as u obey the speed limit and be alert when someone lose controls. and they might hit your car

i drove it in snow/ice this morning...(well my dad drove, he hooked me up wit a ride to school! hehe) and its pretty good compared to other **** cars we've had before the TL such as( 88 tempo haha...) i really like the VSA lite that blinks when it is engaged...
as long as u dont try to go full throtle on ice, ur fine... just step on the gas very gradually and slowly... and alway slow down during turns... other then that its good enough!
