...if you turn off VSA and floor it in D5 (stock tires, dry pavement)?

I experimented briefly but backed off after a second or so of squealing tires. Anybody here just let it keep going?

 

Yup. That why one needs new tires after 20,000 miles...
It's one of the reasons to deflate your tires some if you take it to the track...Mine spin pretty d@mn bad if I really get on it when the VSA is off...

 

actually mine never stopped till I let off the gas.

 

Just did it yesterday racing a Z4, dry pavement and VSA off. The wheels spun like crazy until I let off the gas and then I saw the smoke from the tires in my rear view mirror. The smooth accerlation is awesome, I love this car.

 

I spun bad at the track with and without vsa on. This car does have too much power for these stock tires.

I noticed yesterday that my vsa light went on when I downshifted 4-3-2 in SS and floored it. No chirp (at least I didn't hear one) but I did notice the light. I need to try it again to see I did spin the tires a little from 4-3...or maybe 3-2. Oh and I have 17k on one side of the car and ~3-4k on the other (had to get new wheels and tires on the right side after accident)

 

On a left or right turn, I could make my tires smoke to the point where you can see behind me!!!

 

How much of a difference would good performance make? For example, Pilot Sports (stock size). Would they catch considerably sooner?

 

You can easily find grippier tires than the stock POS tires...H=ll, you can find them much cheaper as well...
If you leave the VSA on and get on it, when it hits second (at least mine does) the tires spin and the VSA flashes as well...
