how much power and where to buy

how much power can i get from a tl-s

supercharger kit-comptech good?

cold air or comptech icebox-will the cold air take in water bec of how low it is? is the icebox worth the price?

exhaust-comptech good also?

brakes-i know bremebo are good but are there ones as good for cheeper?

how low should i put the tl-s and what springs and stuuf should i get. i dont want it too low so it bottoms out, just enough to improve handling.

how wide wheels and tires can i get without modifiying anything to fit. can it be as wide as the new tl without any modifications

thx ahead for the responses, sry im a newbie

Comptech SC: ~$4500-$5000 for about 40-50 hp
Comptech Headers: ~$1200 for about 20-30 hp
AEM Cold Air Intake: ~$250 for about 5-10 hp
Comptech Exhaust: ~$600 for about 1-2 hp

All these prices are for a brand new one. Of course it will be better if you buy all these used and save yourself a $hitload of $$$. I doubt you can buy a used SC.

If you are worried about the water than get a bypass valve (I did). I don't know how much an Icebox is or how much power it has.

BTW, somebody else can explain the rest.

You can get some of the best deals from Dean at http://www.velocityresources.com/

You can find him lurking at a-cl.com as well as deansblackcls (or somethign close to that)...
The s/c kit from him is right at $4k or a little less, and the s/c kit actually comes with Comptech's Icebox...

The are several companies that make brake kits. Rotora is very good and reasonably priced (like $1,500)...

This site is good for all but the s/c since it isn't offered...Juniorbean can also hook you up for much of what you are asking...

I would second r10apple reply. I've bought and installed all my mods at Velocity Resources they do a great job. You may want to cantact jason at V.R. as he is really well informed on most of the mods you are concidering.

As for the brakes I would also recomend the Rotora big brake kit a very nice 4 piston system. That is the kit that I have on my car and they do not fade nor does my car shimmy any more - thank God. They are also no where as costly as the Brembos. I really enjoyed them as I was going through the Tenessee Mts. last month - The CT charger makes it go and the Rotoras make it stop:-)

I've also been on a test ride with an idenentical TL-S with a 3.5 conversion it was nice but it did not compare to the Comp Tech SC with upgrade boost pulley. If you can afford both mods do it but if you can only afford one than go for the CT charger.

I forgot to mention that if you go with the Ice Box you will not need a bypass valve. Comptech has done their homework and it will give you about 12-14hp on a TLS. And by all means buy this stuff used if you can find it.

I believe both (SC and 3.5) of those would work for the TL and year you specified.

If that's the case:

SC = $100 to $112.5 per hp
Headers = $40 to $60 per hp
CAI = $25 to $50 per hp
Exhaust = $300 to $600 per hp

Hands down CAI gives you best $ per hp gain. Exhaust and SC are just waste of money :p

Every consecutive mod that I have put on the car has been well worth it. There's nothing like driving a 340-350 hp tl.

You lucky bastard. I wish I could put in a SC or a 3.5 upgrade. Anyone know if they'll still be available in 5 years? Lol.

"I wish I could put in a SC or a 3.5 upgrade. Anyone know if they'll still be available in 5 years?" - quote.

As long lived and popular these cars are, I would imagine so.
BTW - I'm not just lucky but in debt.

Before commenting on the HP/$ value of various modifications, please check out the following link. Of course, each person can to make their own decison of value but it is good reading and factually based.

http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/showt...rcharger+myths

Personally, the supercharger has been completely worth it. If it was not for California's 91 octane, I'd install the HBP also.

Here we go again. Your math is wrong. You have used a peak gain number from one rpm point, and probably not even the same one. The S/C is by far the best $ per hp gain than anything you can put on your car. In order to figure it out though, you will need to use more than simple division. You need to know how out how to calculate the ENTIRE "AREA" UNDER THE CURVE on a dyno graph,..... or instead you should be able to tell just by looking at the dyno graphs, but look at the graph, not the number printed out as the peak hp/tq number.

And as Top Gun said, read this please, http://www.acura-cl.com/forums/show...ercharger+myths

The 340-350HP figures were somewhat inflated-my bad But it does feel like 340-350 hp if that makes it better It wasn't until I actually had it dynode last week that I truly knew what it was putting out. 265 at the wheels and probably 315-320 at crank. Future HP gainers are: Mugan cooling accessories(being installed tomorrow), B-pipe(later this month??), intercooler + extra 3lbs of boost (maybe beginning of 2004??). After the Mugan upgrades I will be going to the track tomorrow evening-there is a Orlando post on this.
I will also be dynoing all these together when completed.

Hey, I talked to Jason yesterday at Velocity Resources and he sounds like a nice guy. Their going to install my SC this spring and I'm going to have them add the Mugen thermostat, fan switch and radiator cap at the same time (why do we need that anyway?). If the SC is giving 265hp at the wheels what am I getting now stock at the wheels? Just curious? So no complaints on your SC huh? I can't wait for mine. $3586 +$650 installation I hope to be very satisfied.

The TL-S with all the current available bolt-on power upgrades, aside from N20, will end up at 260-270 whp. The GReddy E-Manage has been installed, but not yet tuned, and can control the fuel and timing. When tuned properly the E-Manage will allow for higher boost, or just dialing in what you currently have for significant gains. Soon there will be a new intake manifold with an integrated liquid/air intercooler. By maximizing the blower speed with a pulley change, intercooler, larger injectors, and tuning with the E-Manage, I would expect this could take us to 320-330 whp, all with bolt on modifications!

Damn, that pricing rocks! I paid $3900 but even at that price, Dean did me right. He was able to throw in a few extras, and I did the install myself, so that was cool. I've been told stock whp is around 200-205. The Mugen thermostat opens at a colder temp, and the fan switch makes the fans turn on at a cooler temp to match the stat. By reducing the engine coolant temperature, you prevent the ecu from pulling as much timing out, leaving you with some pretty decent gains. By spring time, there should be some more options available for the S/C kit, so save a few extra $ and do it right.

Thanks, so you have no complaints huh? Is gas consumption extreme?

No complaints! The blower went on Memorial Day weekend 03, with 8K miles on the car. 20k miles later, I'm all smiles. I do alot of highway driving, 2-3 hours there, and 2-3 hours back. I can set the cruise at 80, and get 31 mpg. When I'm around town, I'm usually around 20 mpg. Not to extreme imo, and I am into the boost often.

Sorry, my power figures were somewhat inflated. It wasn't until last week, when I did the dyno, that I got real figures it's more like 315-320 not 340-350. But it sure feels like it has 340.

Future HP gainers: Mugan kooling acceseries, B-pipe, Intercooler +3lbs of boost.

I'm planning to do another final dyno when all is complete. I'll post those results as well.

If the track is not rained out I will be going there tomorow night with the Mugan accesseries installed.
