Question How Much To Pay

I definitely want the new TL-S, but the big question is how much can be negotiated off the MSRP. Currently, my dealer in eastern PA is advertising a “take your pick” deal on either the ’01 TL or the ’01 CL for $26,990. He has the ’01 CL-S priced at $29,190. This same dealer told me I’d pay full retail for the ’01 CL-S when it first came out. Now he claims the ’02 TL-S will go for full retail of around $31,500 non-nav. What kind of pricing are the rest of you finding on ’01 models?

I have 2 TL-S ordered from 2 different dealers. I'm hoping that one will negotiate more than the other. Cross my fingers...

IMHO, if you know that the TL-S is definitely the car you want, it's a big risk to wait for a dealer to negotiate off of sticker.

Look at the pricing history of the '00-'01 TL. Dealers were getting nearly full MSRP for almost two years! The recent price reductions are only due to the early release of the '02 model. It's not logical to assume the '02 models will be any different (especially when considering the upgrades)?

To wait would be risking the same situation that has happened with the MDX. Those who put down advance deposits were able to purchase the MDX for MSRP. I've heard that most dealers are now asking MSRP + $2k for any new orders.

If you wait and demand is not extremely high, you may be able to save a few hundred bucks off of MSRP. However, if demand is MDX-like, you'll lose the bet to the tune of $2k. In short, to wait = low upside risk & high downside risk.

About the same. Dealer estimated around 33.5 MSRP w/nav for a silver TL-s scheduled for March build. I don't think anyone will be getting one for much less than sticker when they first come out. Still thinking about. It's a gamble for me-- pay full price up front, or wait a couple months for a small discount and hope they still have any in stock.
