Post How much to fix this TL?!?

Hey I need your guys guessing estimate to fix this car. I don't mind fixing it since its a $22,000 car and After I fix it, I'd only spend maybe 14-17 for an excellent job. I'm hesitant to buy this, because of front damage, and so, I don't mind if the opportunity passes by. But it is exactly the TL i was looking for. White pearl with parchment leather and the gold package, and it also has navi. Well, I think the parts will be expensive, and I want to make sure it's done right, so I'd take it to a very good body shop, so let me know what you guys think. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...item=581333775

omFg dude. I personally wouldn't buy that. I mean, you spend bout 10k to buy it. Then you spend another 6-10k fixing it. Thats about 20K! If it cost that much, just buy a new car. Or go to carmax or something and buy a used 3.2 tl for like 17.

The 2002 TL with navi can he had for around 29K give or take depending on how much you want to haggle.

Get a new one, OR, Get a USED one with a CLEAN title. Rebuilt/Salvage Titles are a nightmare!

I think the headlights alone are 600-700 a piece. Two airbags, both front quarters, trying to get the paint to match up, need both underbody side rails, front bumper....

Looks like another stolen headlight victim. If that's the case, they probably fvcked up the front end.

Unless you're planning to go there and look at the car, I'd pass.

MOST IMPORTANTLY:
You would then own a salvaged/totalled tital vehicle. Good luck selling it or trading it in later.

That is perhaps the best point of all!! I just don't think it's worth the hassle personally, unless you had the phatest of phat hookups with a body shop nad/or parts outlet. I'd stay away. More than likely, someone is going to buy that car and part it out.

I think the funniest part is how the guy says "light damage in the front"

If that's light, I'd hate to see moderate, or f*ck, even heavy damage.

What crack is this guy smoking?

Oh let's see...

1) It has a salvage title that will follow-it for life no matter how well it's repaired.

2) The unibody frame is bent - probably why the insurance company considered it totaled.

3) Both airbags are blown and the seat belt pretensioners probably are too - $6K right there

Other than that, it looks fine.

You don't want to get involved with a salvage title. You'll never be able to sell it for much later. Also, if the driver was able to do that much damage to the outside of the car, I'd hate to see how the engine performs.

I would stay away unless you can check around and get a good used TL for the money you was planning to put out for the salvage job
