How much does a Salvaged Car Cost Normally?

I'm looking at a 2003 TL-S - title is salvaged but looks to be repaired for $14k

http://www.craigslist.org/sby/car/53220846.html

What do you guys think? I don't know the value of a car once it's salvaged and KBB doesn't mention it either.

the seller has really bad english. i say do a carfax check on it first (not that it does any good, but why not) then get all the info on that car as possible from the seller. there could be more to that car than mentioned.

You need to find out what type of damaged was sustained to the car. Body and fender damage is not too bad, given that high-end body shops have the ability to straighten a bent frame with awesome precision. Mechanically the car should be ok. Water damage on the other hand can cause long-term problems down the road. Do your homework; it'll make your decision much easier.
BTW - salvage title vehicles normally drop in value anywhere between 25-40%.

Some states also won't let you register a salvage title car. Of course I don't know which states (sorry) but that might be something to look into.

Good luck,

Joe

exactly. most damage repaired cars (if done professionally) will be done where nothing is noticable and the car would be as good as new. water damaged cars tend to have alot of hidden and costly repairs due to all teh electrical compononts. and like Lawaia stated tend to have long term problems that pop up down the road

The Car Looks Good At 10 Feet But If The Guy Who Repaired It Is The Same Guy Selling It I Dont Think I Would Buy It Any Body Who Spells That Bad Would Scare Me . But Seriously I Have A Salavage Title Dakota I Built And It Is A Great Truck . There Is Nothing Wrong As Long As The Bodyshop Is A Quality Shop And Does Quality Work . I Am A Insurance Adjuster And Look At Wrecked Cars All Day Long . If This Is A Rear Hit Only As Stated It Is The Best Hit To Get As There Is
Too Much To Screw Up In The Front Suspension Items And Frame Damage Could Chew Tires Badly If Not Straight . Take A Qualified Bodyman/appraiser To Inspect The Car Before You Buy Or Pay Someone To Look At It . I Know The Company I Work For Property Damage Appraisers Would Inspect It For You And We Are In Just About Every State And Area .
