$160 for my '04 Denali XL, '02 TL-S, and wifes '08 RX 350 through Safeco. Full coverage with $500 deductible. I was with State Farm and was paying $350 for all 3 cars with the same coverage. Driving record is average, no accidents just a few claims from theft.

well in PA you get points added to your record for violations.
when you hit 6 pts your license gets suspended (# of days depends on number of prior suspensions/points and all that fine print mumbo jumbo)

the harshest violation is 26mph over the speed limit and going around a school bus. those are 5 pts each

don't ask me how i know when i've never had a ticket haha

Our detectable started out at 500 but is now at 200. We switched to Allstate 3 years ago and they give you 100 off every year without an accident.

We have 3 cars on our insurance so I am not entirely sure how much extra the TL is.

here in pennsylvania we have 7 points on our license as an adult. i think 6 if you're under 21. when you lose all ur points, your license will be revoked. as for here in my state, running a stop sign is 3 points taken off your license plus a citation. sucks huh. but if you take the time out to go to court and plead not guilty. the judge most of the time will not take points off but will still give u the citation.

I'm pretty sure its adding points not losing.

but either way losing 6/gaining 6...same thing, get 6 and license gets suspended.

And also its 6 points for everyone, suspension is harsher for drivers under 18. (90 days suspension for first 6 pts, as apposed to the written test for drivers over 18, IIRC)

In Ky youre allowed to get 12 points before license revoke. Drag racing is automatic loss, improper takeoff is 6, speeding 20+ over on highway is 6, 19-under is 3. There are several more I cant think of..

Here you can attend "traffic school" to avoid getting points on 3 point offenses, and it will also keep the state from notifying insurance.

not worth it to me.. i'd rather pay 105 a month and pay 250 bucks if some idiot decides to hit my car...

and if your paying 60-80 bucks a month and claim your deductible is less than 1k... prove it or ban

I am 46, my Wife and I have perfect records, have multi car, homeowner, homeowners insurance professional, & many other discounts which is how I have dirt cheap insurance at a "high" 500.00 deductible.

You don't have to believe it, but it is the case.

dont remember saying 500 was "high" as you put it.. but you can choose to believe what you want as well..

also... once you pass the middle age threshold.. you dont count lol
i think my mom pays 40 bucks a month on her car on the same plan that i have..
she also has a few wrecks and tickets you can count on two hands.. its just an older customer thing..

btw not calling anyone old.. just saying its a given that your older crowd will pay less for insurance..

but these 20 year old yahoos wont have 60 bucks a month with a low deductible...

when your young.. if you get a wreck thats your fault.. your rate goes ZOOOOMMMM

Mine is a $1000 deductible, but for one - at this point the car is for sale and being stored, and two, I drive less than 5,000 miles a year. The savings on insurance was worth the chance of paying more for that one time incident.

Insurance in general is a gamble. You are paying to protect the unknown...so everyone will naturally have a different view on insurance and what it's value is. Also income makes a large difference to people.

To quote Family Guy:

Peter: "Does anyone have a quarter? I need a quarter."
Bill Gates: "What's a quarter?"

Anyone paying over 100 a month has tickets/accidents.

Paying 300 they have dui/multiple tickets and or accidents/coming off revoked/suspended licenses etc.

where are you from, each state got difference insurance rates, also depending where u live, ofcourse city pays more.

And i did shop around, and no, don't have any speeding tickets. 1 cell phone ticket, and 1 or two forgot trafic violation which i was told does not effect ur insurance.

I have lived in Manhattan, Los Angeles and many major metropolitan areas, since I was 25 I have not paid over 60.00 per month per car.

Currently I am in Scottsdale.

I should have added if you are young you will also pay more.

You're willing to pay $25-$45 a month more to reduce your deductible by $750? That's 17 - 30 months to break even. So every 1.4 - 2.5 years you're wasting $750 unless you successfully file a claim.

I've been driving for 21 years and have never needed to file an accident or loss claim against my insurance. I guess I've saved $5000 - $11000 by having a$1000 deductible using your numbers.

That's easily enough to buy another 2000 TL.

as smart as you sound father time... when you started driving insurance was like 35-45 bucks a month im assuming.. so your numbers are off..

also, learn to read a bit instead of chiming in at the end of a discussion... we talked about the gamble of paying less with a higher deductible. and never said anything was wrong with it.. just that it was a gamble.. in your case.. its payed off... congratulations.. and when you buy another TL with all that money you saved... let me know...

rarely is 20-30 dollars less a month, 20-30 dollars saved.. people normally find other things to spend the money on. so in reality.. you save nothing.. and pay more when the time comes (hopefully it never does)

ps. not knocking anyones age... this was all in reference to 21 years ago.. not the quoters age.
