Picked up my car monday, took plate off last night. The front end looks so much cleaner without it.

Over three weeks and counting. I've also passed 12 or more police in the past week alone.

In my area they are too busy looking for red light runners and speeders.

BTW - I keep mine in the trunk, bad tape and all. So if I need to I can say it came loose at the car wash and am waiting to take it to the dealer to fix it.

ME It's worth taking the risk! Looks so much better w/out it. I too leave my front plate in my trunk. I can just tell the cops it feel off and that I was meaning to get it done.

So NO ONE else agrees with me that most cars look better with the front plate and bracket on?

Maybe if I had custom euro style plates that blend in well with the bumper I'd consider it.

I took my plate off about two weeeks after I got my car. The messed up thing about it is that I noticed a couple of small scratches on the bumper, from where the plate was.

Why aren't cops out preventing robberies and rapes instead of harassing tax paying citizens (even if there is a stupid law in some states)?
Great idea. Or you can always live here in Kansas, where you're not required to have front license plates.

I found my front liscense plate holder in the trunk after I bought the car and brought it home. It was still in its factory package. Thank God the dealer didn't install it.

Front plates are just plain BUTT UGLY. If I lived in a state where they were required and I couldn't afford to pay the fine I would just fricking move!! They are just too frucking ugly.

I also noticed a faint black line on my front bumper when I took the plate off. It does not seem to come off.

They just had a feature on the 11 o'clock news, NBC, about cops in the Valley giving out tickets for no front license plate. Lots of camera shots of people pulled over with the flashing lights. Better keep that front plate on till the heat is off, prolly two, three months.

They have had the "heat" on the front licence plate issue in Los Angeles, West LA, West Hollywood, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and other areas due to the installation of red light photo cameras. They will pester you to death, and they are pulling over everyone they can. It has been a priority in the WLA area for over 6-months now. I would tell you to put it the trunk, but my brother-in-law had to give a car back to a dealer for not having a front plate. He had the previous TICKETS, and a note from the dealer, but every second time he would go out, he would get stopped. How is that for harrasment -- and he is not some easy prey...

They other bummer is the lousy bumper holder they installed for me front plate at Keyes (on my CLS) it seems to chafe the front bumper at speed. My otherwise perfect car has some blems under the plate holder -- argh!

Be carefull in LA and especially West Hollywood, and Beverly Hills. They are letting the murders go, so they can get front licence plate offenders (ok, I went too far...)

In NYC, it's just looking for a reason to get pulled over. Years ago I had removed the front plate from my other car, first week, no problems, second week, get pulled over 3 times, get 1 ticket while parked. Since then, front plates on all my cars.

Hey, I live in NY and I'm curious to find out how much was the ticket? I live on Long Island and I don't park my car anywhere except people's driveways. If I am going to park it, I will put the plate on. Did you give an excuse to the cop when you got pulled over?

I got a ticket in Beverly Hills for no front plate $31 fine.

In Los Angeles, people are so vanity-obsessed with their cars. Its funny that we do the things we do. The car looks better without the plate, but the front plate will protect the bumper from other cars that are parked in front of you when they tap you as they parallel park.

Life is so complicated sometimes. So many choices to make.

the ticket was for $50.00 (while parked). When I got pulled over, I had the plate on the dash and the mounting bracket on the seat with no screws, and told the cop that the screws fell out, the whole bracket fell off the car and I will fix it as soon as I get replacement screws. This worked, but I was afraid of what would happen if I got pulled over by the same cops months later.

I was watching that story on the news the other night while I was on here posting! I stay out of LA, Beverly Hills and West Hollywood - no reason to go there. I have my front plate in the trunk, but the mounting bolts are in place below the bumper. Maybe I should remove them! It's probably a good idea to have a license frame that it trashed sitting in your trunk so you can show the cops that it got mangled and fell off and you were on your way to get some new bolts to put it back on! Do you think they will buy that one? It probably depends on the driver, how old they are and the "mentality" of the cop.
