I just bought a 03' TL from the original owner and it has 40k miles. Lots of miles but i got it for 19k (cheap as hell). Can someone please tell me about how many and what type of warranties the original guy may have bought with the car that can now be used by me?

On another subject, the car sounds like a freakin plane when i press the throtle but changes gears without any kind of jerking. I'm wondering if i also need a new tranny.

 

well from watt i know all acuras run with the 4 years 50, 000 mile warranty. i hear it covers from front of car to back. all of it. any rattles, engine problems, alignments.. anything...... so if i were you, take advantage of the last 10,000 miles and find all the little things that bother you and take to them to get it looked at. And about your tranny, i dont know much.. but i hear people talking about 02, and 03' and i dont know watt other years gettin recalls for the Atuomatic Transmitions. You have to call the 1.800 or 1.888 number... tell them your VIN # and they will let you know watt recalls your car has.. also you can go to the acura website and find the link that says something about Owners Link.(then you enter your vin, make a password and user name and it will should things about your car, including recalls.) also will tell you in details watt warranties it has and watt it covers... here you go.. link to Owners link..

The basic warranty that came with the car when it was new is 4yrs or 50,000 miles what ever comes first.
This would cover most every thing with some exceptions like battery,tires or normal wear items like brakes.
If the car is covered under the extended transmission warranty that ACURA sent to owners. This covers the transmission & torque converter only thats good for 7yrs or 100,000 miles from the time the car was purchased by original owner. So you need to check the VIN # to make sure the car is covered by this warranty it should be.
Now if the owner purchased a normal extended warranty you need to check with them on that.
