Repeat the intake manifold and gas tank in a month/1500 miles~ (then good for a year)to get the rest of the crud the first treatment missed- its a learning curve on how fast and how much product to give it per second and let it rest-some more- stabilize-sip sip sip
Try some 2000 rpm while adding thru vac port or thru TB inlet if snout off to clean TB plate- smoke will come from the exhaust- resume just above idle sip sip sip, 2000..
Let cook 15 minutes then the blow out as detailed in other threads

So...Yesterday night, I found an old recepit for my gas, and I realized I was caluclating my gas mileage wrong....I followed what was said earlier in this thread and got 18-20 mpg, not 14-16 as what I thought I had...

99 TL 125,000 miles. New Plugs at 80,000/seafoamed at around 100,000. EGR port cleaned at 90,000. K&N Air Filter is the only mod. I usually keep the RPM's below 2500RPM's. NO jack rabiit starts. That makes all the difference. I get 21-23 City Driving with very little highway miles. 28-30 on the highway driving 70-85 MPH. Winter gas gives less mileage. I check the mileage at every tank. Miles driven divided by gallons at fill up. The car is consistant UNLESS I get on it. Then mileage drops considerably. The engine runs flawlessly. On a warmer day above 60 degrees it's hard to detect it idleing when your sitting in it. Smooth and Quiet. The plug change helped along with seafoaming it.

So when my light came on today I was at 367 miles. I did a seafoam a few months back along with new plugs and valve adjustment. I guess thats not bad for a 00tl with 195xxx

I just got 445 to 15 gallons mixed (mostly hwy). Weather is warming up and mileage is going up. Even my expedition is getting 40-50 more miles out of a tank now that temps have been above 50.

What Mpg are you getting? You still have 2+ gallons sometimes when the gas light comes on.

I drive mostly backroads daily to work. I am getting 20-21 mpg with 93 octane, non-ethanol gas. Haven't made any long trips yet to check highway mileage. 03 TL-S

I would guess that we are pretty close in MPG's. 25 or 26.. mainly because I gun it around people.. there is a stretch of the highway where it goes to 1 land.. and i always get behind slow folks so I gotta get around them asap due to oncoming traffic.. i pass atleast 2 cars everyday

I drive mixed city and freeway, getting anywhere from 20-23 mpg depending on how much I drive like an asshole.
Driving from Sacramento to San Diego, and back, I averaged 29mpg doing 85-95 with the AC on.

afstud- what did it hold in gallons when you fianlly gassed up?
around 14.5 is normal at first on of low light

If you do it again reset the trip meter- fill tank to first auto stop, do your drive and refill to first auto stop- miles divided by fuel used = real mpg
A can of seafoam in the tank for a long trip does wonders- with the constant flow of cleaner to parts for several hours- + heat and time are seafoams best friends for max effect
On the freeway on cruise control the TL is a gas miser- hard to believe but true~
most I ever put in was 16.7..with the needle well below empty
I am guessing that 1/2 gallon cant really be picked up safely by the pump, so
approx 16.7 would be max for a normal human--17.2 or 3 is tank max
Carry a gallon of gas if you want to play the extreme game, and remember its bad to run FI cars out of gas, wont kill it but not happy about it, throw fuel cleaner in if it happens
On my Honda bike the gas guage drops to E and only takes 2.5 of 4 total~!
great at telling if its full or down a gallon but beyond that...
for really long backroads or freeway trips, I carry 1 gallon gas on the rear luggage rack-
that will get me another 40 miles for sure if I ever run out going off the odometer for refueling time

I'm mad when I don't break 400 miles a tank. I've been to 450 once. 90% highway driving at ~65mph (pissin' people off, but fuck 'em. I like my money.) and a/c on only about 10% of the time. (27-30 mpg)

soo i changed my spark plugs to NGK iridium and a fresh air filter ... and guess what my mileage stayed the same

'02 Type-S, I get anywhere from 260 miles on a tank (lots of stop and go, shitty rainy winter commute driving) to 300-320 (summer commute, mix of city/highway will less stop and go) to 400 if it's pure highway driving doing 70-80 mph the whole time.

What your problem is?
I can get over 400 miles on a tank on long commutes (i.e. from Houston to Dallas) and that is with the car loaded with 3-4 people and trunk with luggage.
Something is definitely wrong with the car if you are getting 13...

135k mikes on the car , its a TL-S 2002. original plugs and no valve adjustment yet ...

i have a mileage app on my g1 and im getting about 21 mpg average on mid-grade quiktrip gas(89 oct.). it was 19 mpg(86 oct.?) when i started off with low-grade.
that equals out to about 300 miles on a tank.depends how far i push it

or 93-94 if thats what they sell where you live
the ecu is retarding the timing to compensate for lower rated gas- which leads to carbon loading and worse- E10 gas is a bummer for the engine- leaves behind a lot more crud/combustion byproduct than old school mtbe gas...seafoam or similar product works great to reduce/remove that stuff.
you should recoup the 2 dollars with an extra 15 miles per tank- cancelling the cost differance and allowing the car to run at spec

I used to get ~27 mpg with mostly highway and some stop and go traffic. Lately it's been really low..22-23 mpg. I attribute it to the weight of my new 19"s but it's a pretty dramatic drop. I'll prob try seafoaming again soon and see if it gets it back up.

for every inch diameter larger tires you run over stock- a loss of 1mpg per would be about right, in my experience
maybe its just better tires encourage harder driving or tire mass and wheel weight are more than stock?
a 99 or any gen2 with 150,000 miles is barely broken in~ seriously, thats nothing.
Change a few normal wearout parts and its still the best looking car of its type

do the easy seafoam method, when gas tank at a tick under half, throw 1 can of seafoam in tank and drive normally
Will help if you can do 30+ minute drive sessions, heat and time are seafoams helpers.
It will take longer than the direct induction, but the concerns over doing it right are erased and you will get decent results
If you want to do just the gas method, you can also try redline SI-1, Ive always had excellent results with it- since the 80s working in a shop
Be sure to clean the air plate inside the TB- remove air intake hose from air filter top to engine- spray the big round thing in the throat with carb cleaner, tb cleaner or seafoam aerosol -deep creep, or seafoam in a spray bottle you put together, that one lubes the pivot hinge too
get the sides and back of the plate clean by manually opening the throttle
Easy DIY and makes smoother throttle and if you lube the return springs, better return from rpm
