How low should I sell my TL for????

I own my car and I want to move it pretty fast. Dealer is offering total crap for the trade. my car is in great shape but is a 2002 non nav, blue with 36K all highway miles. Is $22,100 a steal or am I crazy with these high miles? I've looked at Kelly and edmunds and other ads and my price seems great but I'm not sure. What are you guys seeing?

I hate to break it to you but i live in NY and nobody looks at Kelley or edmumnds values , although they are high --- you will prob not get anything close to what you want or what the books say. You have to look at it like this --- a brand new TL can be bought from 30 - 31 grand , you are selling it for 22 and change, someone who has 22 grand would rather just buy a brand new one for the extra money and since you have high miles the warranty will end soon, a person would rather spend the money on a new one and have a full warranty. Selling a car is difficult especially during these times , although a trade in is much easier , you will get a lot less but if you really have to sell your car then go with a trade in or a asking price that is hard for someone to say no to. I wish you the best of luck !!!!

Off the top of my head $22k seems like it would be the going rate considering the mileage. I wouldn't call it a steal. How much did the $tealer offer?

Actually, you can get a brand spanking new TL for around $27K. I think $22K sounds a little high for 36,000 miles. Maybe $18-20K?

The dealer offered me 18K. It does seem the the market is real soft right now for anything. I thought for a 2002 type S $22K seemed fair since a lot of dealers have non type S cars for more money. I realize things look bleak. I put an ad on autotrader, yahoo and the star ledger(big north jersey paper). I can't see trading it in at 18K.

If your TL is a Type S, you should EASILY get 23K (maybe even a bit more).

Yield 2S,

If your TL-S has a clear title, that's an amazing deal. I've seen similar TL-S's at the dealer for ~26K and up.

I put it up for 21,900 on Yahoo. yahoo is a great site. It makes me feel good because it tracks views of your ad. For the price of the ad it is totally worth it. My local Newspaper and Autotrader did nothing. My car is totally clean, no accidents.

That's an absurd price. You can get a brand-spankin' new TL-S for less than $29K. Who would buy a used one with that many miles for only $3K less? I know I wouldn't.

Pauli,
Your math is absurd. $29,000 - 21,900 = $7,100. I'll tell you what, if you want the car I'll even through in a calculator.
