Post How long has my TLS been sitting at the dealer?

I'm picking up my ABP TLS tomorrow at the dealership and I was just curious as to how long my particular TLS has been sitting around various dealer lots. I know there is the manufacture date inside the door pillar but I'm curious about VINs. My car's VIN is in the 14500 range. How many cars are above (newer than) that?

I was worried about this same problem with my (soon to arrive) TL-S. I specifically asked my dealer to order me a new car, and that I will take it right off the delivery truck when it arrives (after they've cleaned it up, of course). It's very important to me that my car hasn't been sitting around being neglected on the lot.

It's also fun to know that my car's "Born On" date is a few days after I placed the deposit.

Daverman, Where did you buy in Kansas City?
Went to Jay Wolfe, my car was off the truck 2 days at most, picked it up yesterday.
Love the car, but at under 100 miles haven't yet felt the full potential.

14K on the VIN is fairly new. My local dealer just got an Agean Blue in this week and it's in the 14K range.

I bought it at Superior Acura (I-35 and 75th). $32,200 - Silver/Ebony, Navi. I'll be picking up first week of June.

Around my area, the TL Type-S's are going pretty quickly and don't spend much time on the dealer's lot. The "CL" Type-S's on the other hand are not moving as fast so they can sit for months.

I got my 02TLS at Superior Acura as well.. had to be ordered at the time. I spoke with the GM out there about these cars.. they go pretty fast as another post (and he) had mentioned.. he also quoted me a 2-week delivery time from the plant in Ohio.. as for how long they sit there, I wonder.. When mine was delivered.. it sat there long enough for them to clean it up and install the ground spoilers! *Hats Off to Superior* they made the whole experience wonderful.. may be they were afraid I would run over to Baron!! hehe

Well, all you Kansas City TL-S owners, I started at Superior. They let me test drive the car, negotiate price and then told me the car was already sold (traded to another dealer). Should have left then.
Next, they said they could have another car the next day. Which turned into the next day, then the next day. Was told it would be brand new off truck. Well, it was a dealer trade and had scratches (looked like it was driven over a curb) on the front spoiler and a few other minor dings. Plus test drive miles.
Finally, had enough, went to Jay Wolfe, had one TL-S (Aegean (sp?) Blue) just off the truck. Deal was done in 30 min. Of course, by the time the deal was done, Superior called and said they were getting me a brand new car. Obviously a little too late. I just didn't feel I could trust Superior with all that had happened. And, I could not pay over $30K for a car that already needed to be re-painted.
Just my story about how long my TL-S's were sitting on the lots! ;}

I am so glad to see all of you KC people here!

Wolfe had at least 8 TL-S's on the lot as of last weekend. Are they really going that fast? I went by Superior two weeks ago and they had only one.

I'm really interested to know what kind of deals you all were able to get, if you don't mind sharing. I can't wait to negotiate!

Red face

Well, Jay Wolfe looks like they have 12-14 Type-S's in stock (better Web site od the 2)!!! Not that many in stock when I was there. I was at sticker (they saw the drool and racing heart I am sure). Goes to show, best time to get a good price is after I buy one. Jay Wolfe must have a larger allotment than Superior.
And, negotiate between the two dealers.
Anybody in KC buy the Acura extended warranty? Jay Wolfe quoted $1800!! Too steep for me esp. when some on the board have paid in the $1200 range.

I bought one from Superior for $32,200 (2002 TLS+Navi). Yes, Jay Wolfe has sold out all but 1-2 of their TL-S's last week. I'm looking for the Satin Silver Metallic ones and they seem to go really quickly.

I'm still waiting for my car to be delivered... 2 more weeks. I'm going to burst.

Thumbs up

Daverman, for the area you got a great deal. I complicated the deal with my trade, so I am sure I got it coming and going.
Oh well, I am very happy with the car, probably should have had you negotiate for me!!

I basically negotiated the difference between the car cost and my trade value. I told the dealer that I don't care what value he quoted for the TL-S or my trade-in. Give me the difference that I'm looking for. I then used the Edmunds.com price for my trade and added the difference.

When you guys/gals are talking about getting the TL-S w/ Navi for $32,200 or something..is that the price you pay before tax and every thing or the price for the car "out the door"....just wondering...I am looking at the TL-S as my next car...Thanks
