Lightbulb How long does ur's TL take to shift??

Just want to know how long ur TL take to shift from R to D or N to D. Mine took like 2 oe 3 second to shift to D from P,R,N.
If i'm N without holdin the brake then put it down to D.It will took aorund 3 sec to shift into D. And it isn't smooth...u can feel it pushing.

2000 TL w/ 38,000 miles.

three seconds is a bit too long. Mine takes 0.5 to 1 sec, and it pushes only in cold engine, sometimes clunks too. Otherwise, when the engine is warm, it is smooth.
maybe u should take it into the dealer to ask them why it is so slow

Yeah.. 3 secs is a little lenghty.
As indicated in the Acura/Honda extended tranny lettre..
-slow shifting is a sign of transmission problems-
bring the car in..

If it really is 3 seconds, there is something wrong. ~1 second is average for an automatic. Some automatics (General Motors automatics, for example) can have a quicker shift with the use of a reflashed computer. Also for some automatics, a modified servo can make shifts just a little faster by increasing the pressure of the transmission fluid. At any rate, these things will only shave fractions of a second off the time to shift. So instead of 2 seconds to shift, it's only 1.5 or so. Nothing major. Just don't expect instantanious shifts as this is only an automatic tranny...not a manual.

...I managed to overlook the fact that you're not talking about shifting between forward gears. As for delays in shifting between park, reverse, and drive, this is most likely due to the computer. The computer is designed to have some delay between those shifts just in case you accidentally move the shift lever too far in one direction or another and go to correct it. Like if you were to shift from park to reverse but accidentally moved too far and went to neutral or drive. I know that part is a little hard with the TL's staggered shift gate but this feature is left over from older Honda/Acura trannies where the shift gate is straight.
