I bought my '01 TL on March 1, 2001. I still haven't received my Cali plates. I don't remember it ever taking more than 4 weeks to get my plates for any of my other cars. How long has it taken you guys to get your Cali plates?

Non-Cali owners need not reply that they are still waiting for theirs.

 

I gone mine in about 4 weeks (bought it on Dec 9, got the plates First week of Jan). It took me another 2 weeks to put it on though..
When I got them in the envelope, I put it down somewhere and forgot to open it cuz it didn't look like it had my plates inside.

Are you gonna take off your front plate? You will love the way it looks without it.

 

I removed the front plate holder the second day I had the car. I was lucky my dealer wasn't one of those that drilled into the bumper. On the one hand, I don't mind not having my plates yet because I can't get busted for no front plates. However, the big "CERRITOS ACURA" placard is ugly and getting more and more annoying every day. I haven't bothered removing it because I figured my plates were coming, but I just might have to.

 

Bought my S2K on March 16th, got my plates two days ago!
Did you order special plates? Personalized?
I just did regular!

I'm in Los Angeles was wondering the same thing, I bought my 2001 TL on March 7th, and still no plates. I called the Acura dealership this morning and they said they'll check on it, but it isn't uncommon to wait eight weeks. I don't like driving without plates, looks awkward to me.

 

Actually, I think I waited about 2 months for my TL plates to come in!
Maybe those prisoners don't like TL's!

 

Because of the power problems, the DMV has decided to turn off 1 of the 3 decent computers they have. They can't issue as many orders.

 

I know someone that waited 9 months for personalized plates... (got sent to the wrong place). I've found that it takes 2 to 6 weeks for them, hang in there.

 

SC-TL... you got yours at Cerritos Acura? Thats where I got mine from. They drilled holes into my bumper. I complained but they said they do it to all their cars. Why didnt they do it to yours!!!.... which is a good thing for you of course.

 

I bought my TL on Feb 28th, and I just got my plates last Wednesday. I called the dealer's DMV gal and since it had been so long. My only concern is that someone had stolen them and was using them. She said that on average, it's 4-6 weeks, but it's been running 8+ weeks lately. Don't be surprised if it takes more than 2 months.

I received my registration rebate check the week before I got my plates, so I knew what my new plate number was going to be before I even saw it!

 

Actually, I made my deal through another dealer, but they didn't have a silver TL in stock, and wound up doing some kind of car swap with Cerritos. The car did come from the Cerritos dealership though. I don't know why they drilled holes in yours but not mine. Maybe they didn't have time to fully "prep" mine. Those holes really suck, and with that plate holder, I don't think they are really necessary.

The correct answer is 62 days. Bought my car 3/2/01, received my plates yesterday, 5/3/01. The registration indicates the papers were submitted 3/8/01. They sure are a lot easier on those prisoners nowadays.
