Question How High Have You Revved Your Engine?

Personally the highest I've ever gone is between 6000 and 6300 in second. There aren't many places to speed in Orange County .

I hit rev limiter several times in 2nd. Feels pretty unpleasant.

I've tried to shift from D1 to D2 at 6800 so it will actually shift before it hits the rev limiter. I've missed a few times.

What I love is the sweet sound of rubber burning when it shifts to 2nd.

In the early days of ownership I hit the rev-limiter a few times in SS going from 2nd to 3rd. It took me awhile to figure out that the car shifts automatically between 1st and 2nd, but not 2nd and 3rd.

I did that also today for the first time. I am very surprised that when you redline second gear it does not pop into third. Kind of feels like you just blew an engine...

But I love that V-TEC sound over 5,000 RPM!

I've done it a couple times, in 1st. Not using SS, and shifting through the gears, it just surprised me how fast it gets to redline. Oops. Never done it in SS, though.
I'm glad it doesn't automatically shift from 2nd to 3rd in SS. That is one of the reasons I like SS; I can keep it in any gear I want (until I slow, and it goes to 1st).

if you do it 3 times in a row without shifting it will shift up automatically.

Nothing sucks worse then blowing by someone on a 2-lane road and hitting the rev limiter in the middle of it. Kinda gives you a mini panic attack. Strange thing is the engine seems to still be pulling strong and sounding sweet.

i've taken it all the way up to 6000 in SS.. even if it shifts from 1 to 2... just floor it.. then after it goes to 2... you have to shift manually... and i did it pass 6000... and i was at 65 miles by the time i shift to 3rd... (I think)... it was a while back

All the way to the red-line in 2nd and 3rd. I love the sweet low rumbling sound of the engine under full throttle acceleration. Just wish the car was a 6-speed manual.
