How the hell?

ok...im trying to paint my engine cover...im on the lower piece with the acura emblem on it...1st i tried masking it with masking tape...that didnt hold...no tape holds...so i turn it ove n noticed the little notches...but they r hard as hell to move...any suggestions?...thx...

are you trying to tape off the small rectangular peice or the letters? the small rectangular piece pops off. flip it over and you can see teh tabs. get a flat head screw driver and pop those thru. its hard but they do pop out! also for taping stuff get scotch 3M masking tape, (not the blue crap either!) the scotch 3m brand is designed for painting and sticks better than the blue crap

yeah i tired painting the cover, and even after sanding it, the paint still doesnt stick right

so any specific suggestions will be welcomed

o yea 1 more thing...for the big piece...the 1 that covers most of the engine...is it just those 4 bolts holding it?...

I have mine painted...PM me for pics...all I did was wash all the plastics really well with "Dawn" detergent and dried them off. Then I sprayed 4-6 light coats of paint, letting the coats dry for 10-15 minutes before reapplying. Mine looks great and has not chipped or flaked off at all
