How far past teh 100k extended warranty did you get Acura to cover your transmission?

Mine went last wednesday at 140k.
It's the third transmission that I've had go bad.
After Leith Acura in Cary, NC made a call to Acura of North America [I'm guessing] and explained my situation, they agreed to pay for the whole thing (again! Last time my tranny failed I was at 110k)

Just interested to see how far out of warranty you guys have gotten your transmissions replaced for free.

Wow thats really good. The last one honda would cover for me was 115k. One member had his first die at like 160+k and all he had to do was pay labor

Wow! We have an '03 Audi A4 Quattro with a blown clutch in the shop. The car has 50,700 miles on it (50k warranty) and the manufacturer blew the guy off.

Maybe Acura does have a heart!

My local dealer service manager told me of a guy with 124k getting his tranny replaced and fully covered.
He did say that Acura does stand by and help people out at times. I think they are growing a heart. You think they would save money by building a tranny that didnt BREAK!

I mailed in a written complaint to Acura after my second failure. About two months later I received a call from a woman, who proceeded to tell me if I ever have any future problems to call her at her extension number.
After the initial visit to the dealer last week, they placed a call to Acura asking for "assistance" with the replacement, saying to me that I would be lucky for any help with the repair.
Later that day, I called the nice lady that gave me her extension a while back leaving her a nice lengthy detailed message, and I never heard back from her.
The next day however, I got a call from Leith saying that Acura would cover it in full.
Now, whether my call had anything to do with it, I don't know, but there's always a possiblilty.

Spl1011- Yes, they should focus on manufacturing a transmission that can take the heat. Why they don't, I'm not quite sure. I can only hope that I eventually get a tranny that will last a while.

Because they are past our model and it would cost more to remanufacture a new tranny than it would be to just keep rebuilding them

Sad... but true. If they had done this while the '02's and '03's were rolling off the assembly lines, then it would have been worth while. But they are losing A LOT of Acura followers for this. Sadly, some bean counter in Japan figured that replacing trannies is cheaper than re-engineering one. I'll consider a Honda or even another Ford before I consider an Acura. Granted Honda and Acura are the same, its still several grand cheaper for the same bells and whistles.

^^ Ford??

Sorry, the first car my family ever bought was a '93 Ford Taurus. Tranny died TWICE on that thing, engine died for good around 90k miles... this was all in additional to a ton of other things that went wrong with the car.

Since then, we've bought a '96 Civic (used), '99 toyota avalon, '02 TL (used), '05 RX330 and none of them had any major problems.. they're actually all still being driven. From my experiences, I trust Honda/Acura & Toyota/Lexus.

What is the address you mail it to? I am on my 2nd tranny and I had to fight Acura to get my 1st one replaced under warranty.

You're right. I had one too many to drink when I typed that. I probably wouldn't own another Ameri-exico car. I never had any tranny issues with the old bull and it had the torquey 3.8 liter in it. Head gasket blew at 120k and that is when I got the TL. But everything in it was falling apart.

damn dude, what info don't you have????? lol
good job on answering peeps questions. You seem to have an answer for almost anything.

As far as the thread goes, I hope Acura covers a bit after 100k, I want to keep my car but its getting closerr and closer. I just hit 94k, I am hoping my tranny dies at like 98 or 99k, so I can enjoy my TL for another 15k miles. If not I really don't know what im going to do, dont wanna think about it..
