Just flip the OEM bracket upsidedown ... I used a torch to heat up the plastic and bend the bracket so when its upsidedown the plate doesn't point upwards ...

That's the route I went but I never flipped mine. I just left it on until I got the bumper repainted and now it's gone...no more front plate.

Not worth the trouble in NJ. The cops are dicks, but without plates you are asking yourself for a ticket.

Now thats a clean TL. I love the lights. On my TL I left the plate mounted stock, but on my DSM I took it off. If I get pulled over in that, it'll most likely be for speeding not my plates. (they'll add that on later)

Here in CA you need a front plate but many ride without it.

I once got stopped by a CHP that had a REAL bad attitude.
Tried to give me 4 tickets at once! All I did was merge safely
in front of a truck (traffic moving at about 20 mph). CHP
asserted I cut the truck off. I proved otherwise (3 lines
in front of truck at merge... more than 30 feet). Then
tried a ticket for crossing a double white line. Again proved
otherwise. He finally gave me a $200 dollar ticket for
not following an Right Lane Must Exit sign. Note this sign
was about 1/2 mile back. See, it was a construction zone.

Now, there is the clue. The reason they were pulling people over
in groups is that tickets are doubled in construction zones in CA.

Oh, and by the way...the traffic backup was because of them
pulling people over. Looked like there was an accident.

My opinion of the CHP reached a new low after that.

-> Added to the list was a ticket for no front plate <-

Now, the REAL reason that CA requires a front plate is
(IMHO) so they can photograh you at interestions.
Rather than syncronize traffic signals and set lights to
keep traffic flowing they put cameras literally everywhere.

in texas you need plate in front, i was ticketed by a a**hole cop $160 for no plate. I suggest putting it on the lower part of the bumper between the fog lights like "LacViet" has his.
