how do you know when....

hello.

how do you know when its time to replace your struts? is it an obvious or subtle loss of suspension feeling.

im noticing that my car is not as tight as before and there are audible squeaks when i go over humps.

i installed the HR sports springs at 40k and have since added about 10k more..... do you think that it is about time to replace?

thanks for your inputs.

Need answers to the same question. When I got my HR Sports I had 48k mi on the car. The installer told me that the struts might have to be changed soon b/c he was hearing a hard clicking sound from the rear when you hit bumps etc.

Any of you guys that are running the same setup experience the same thing?? Even after a few weeks I still hear the click.

I went to Pep Boys a few weeks after the install to check out the alignment and asked the mechanic how the sturts were looking and he said that they should last for a while?!?!

Who the hell am I supposed to believe??

I think the stock shocks last for about 100K miles with stock springs. With H&R Sports shock life is about 50K. Also depending on the roads you drive on. I installed my H&R Sports at 10K, I right now have 12.5K miles. So far so good.

When my shocks go I'm getting Koni yellows

look at them for any signs of leaking, and look at the shaft (all nice and shiny part and see if there is any wear marks on them. also if you push donw on the car repeatadly and then stop and the car keeps bouncing a little bit they are shot.
