How do you know if the trans has been replaced??
I recently bought a used 02 Acura TL. I called Acura Client Services and gave them the VIN number. Acura said that 'recall was performed' on Dec 2005.
However they do not have the info if transmission was replaced or was it just the jet oil kit.
Any ideas where else I should look?

I think that's a pretty reliable source to find out what work has been done on your car. All you do its type in your VIN and enter ur credit card, it costs like 15 or 25 bucks. I just went to it yesterday and found out my trans has never been worked on. Now I think I have to take it in and get it checked out.

Sounds like the oil jet kit was installed. If you look at the top of the transmission, do you see a bolt that has ATF stamped on it? If not, it was replaced by the oil jet kit. If you see the bolt, the transmission was probably replaced (newer designs don't use the external kit).
That's the best way I can think of telling - other than call the dealer (which you did).

Carfax reports can often miss service and repair events. I got full service records for my 1999 TL from the original owner but the CarFax report missed many, many items.
So don't rely on the CarFax report for a complete record.

See if Acura Client Services can tell you the name of the dealership where the oil jet recall was performed. You might then be able to get additional information from the dealership.

That's about when mine was replaced last time. You should see ATF on the bolt on top of your tranny.
Mine's been driving ok ever since (ok - occasional hard shifting into 3rd but that's it).

I called Acura they told me my transmission was replaced in June 2005, and that it was one of the TLs involved in the recall.
And I asked her if they installed the revised trans from Feb 2005 ? she said yes, I hope she is not bullshitting.

If your new transmission was installed by an Acura dealer in June of 2005 you should have the latest parts.
